I'm not sure passing a law would be effective, don't get me wrong I want roe v wade to stand, but if a federal law was passed protecting roe what's to stop the supreme court from overturning that law? I agree that voting democratic is the best to protect civil rights.

Agreed. But at the end of the day, if someone gets raped, the fault lies with the rapist. All of it. The enemy is the rapist. Because we don’t have to protect ourselves if no one is trying to rape us. The Republicans are the only ones trying to strip women of their rights. That’s not a force of nature. It’s not a tornado. It’s people, and the people choosing to cause the harm are responsible for that harm.

And trans + nonbinary folks. We suffer an unbelievable amount of rape; seeking reproductive healthcare in ANY context means outing ourselves and facing danger. Seeking abortions, specifically? We desperately need to know who our allies are.

It is 100% ALSO the fault of apathetic and "but her e-mails" liberals. It's not analogous to blaming rape victims for rape. It's analogous to having a choice between inviting a known rapist into our shared community and inviting a non-rapist who is perceived as unlikable. The people who gleefully vote to invite the rapist are at fault, but so are the people who say "well the person I wanted to invite isn't on the ballot, so I'm not voting at all" or "I'm voting for this person who has no chance of getting to move in."

So "it happens on both sides" is like looking for pedophiles in a pizza parlor while ignoring the church?

Fame and fortune guaranteed in the state of Tintucky

A sex-strike is a great idea, except for the fact that the men who need to change their minds are the ones most likely to beat/abuse/r*pe their partners if they're told no (sometimes literally being told no once!) I would love it, if it would work, but I'm afraid for the women who need abortion care the most-- and what that strike would do to them, physically :(

Emma Crawford

My state, New Mexico, has been an abortion haven already for several years, I can't even imagine what it will be like post RvW. If you are in a state that will continue to support the right to an abortion and have a guest room, consider offering it the poor women and GIRLS who have to travel to your state for care. Your local rape crisis center is likely already looking for people who can support them in this way.
