2021-05-21 17:52:05 +0000 UTCNot to be contentious at all (but of course to be overly serious, as that is my default setting), I had a consciousness-raising moment about arguments like this a week or two ago. Here's an abridged version of the comment that got me there: "Actually, that is not feminism. That is how conservatives worked to re-define feminism, in order to make women “choosing” to work for free at home and then get left later after caretaking with nothing. Feminism is about equality, not “choice.” One CAN choose to be less than, but that choice is not feminist. Some people do make staying at home work as a an equal choice, but that choice should come with legal protections for that person or it is still a precarious position. Feminism is also about equal pay for equal work."
