2021-05-02 03:09:16 +0000 UTCI’m loving this episode! Thanks so much for introducing me to Cara! I’m a fellow “native” Texan in the DFW area, though I’m still here, unfortunately! But I’m also an educated, intellectual, well-read, liberal progressive, anti-racist humanist and sociocultural justice advocate whose parents (both) are boomers on the wrong side of history despite witnessing Watergate in real time! It’s honestly a daily, sometimes hourly, struggle to be who and what I am, in a deplorable state, with indoctrinated parents, brainwashed neighbors and criminally destructive local and state government officials! I constantly feel very outnumbered, isolated and alone, and quite frankly, traumatized on the regular by all the stupid and sadistic that surrounds me. :-( I’m glad Cara got out, but Texas needs as many politically progressive and socioculturally aware citizen voters that we can get. It’s kind of a double edged sword - well-educated, ambitious Texans often leave the state because they get too smart to stay. 😂
