Women/afab people who have to wonder whether this is the day they get assaulted for the first time for for another time: “hey, male violence is a problem, I don’t feel safe and it’s not my fault, I keep getting harassed by men, stalked by men, abused and assaulted by men, can we do something about this?”
People who don’t have the lived experience of women/afab people: “hOw DaRe YoU” “what was she wearing, though?” “well, actually, men are just biologically wired to be more violent, and that’s not actually a problem, it’s just science, and facts don’t care about your feelings, so deal with it uwu”

I think we all knew that this country would never address the gun problem after sandy hook. We watched someone murder children and we did nothing. If that doesn’t shock the system into action I don’t think anything ever will
I want to say that the argument that men are just biologically violent is bullshit. Let’s take rape for example, we know that there’s cops that are abusive and are rapists. Why do you think they abuse their spouse or rape criminal suspects instead of say a female police chief? It’s because they know what they’re doing is wrong so they chose a person who’s the least likely to get them in trouble. It’s the same reason why wealthy pedophiles travel halfway across the world to molest a kid from some far off country that will never see their rapist again instead of their neighbors grandkid. Predators choose their victims selectively, they don’t just get the urge and rape the first person they see

Look up the term "modern sporting rifle". The industry decided that they needed a term for these weapons.

The Colorado shooter waited 6 days not 3 to get his gun. I am very much for longer wait periods but I do not think a longer wait time would be a good preventative measure against mass shootings. Longer wait times seems like they would help reduce suicides I could be wrong. People who commit mass shootings do not appear to do so on a whim ( for the most part) which is why I do not think the longer wait times would matter as much to someone willing to commit mass murder. I think lending more resources for background checks would be far more effective along with banning those convicted of domestic violence or sexual assault would help significantly. What works in other countries may not be as effective in the US not because we are better or anything like that ( I think we are worse) I think along with better gun control laws there needs to be a focus on changing a culture that has trained many men to be so reactively violent. The texas clock tower shooter had a bolt action rifle and injured 31 and killed 15 the shooter. In Virginia Tech the gunman had a Glock 19 and a Walther P22 and he killed 32 and wounded 17 others. The reason I mention these 2 shootings is that they weren't done with assault style weapons and had a rather high body count. I am not necessarily against the banning of assault style weapons, I just think there is also something within our culture that has to change as well or it will be like plugging one hole in the dam only to have another hole open somewhere else.

The FFRF sure had an issue with it.

If you offer the discount to the majority, but make it unavailable to a minority -- especially a minority defined by religious affiliation which often correlates to ethnicity -- then it is effectively charging those minorities extra.

Not sure, but I can't imagine being opposed to a business offering a discount for praying.
Doesn't matter to me if they want to offer a discount for the religious, or to their friends and family, or to people whose names rhyme with egg. A discount is discretionary, it's not like refusing service or charging a minority group extra. It's a discount.

i am not against free donuts for vaccination. But, just to highlight the counter argument, wasn't there a thing about 10% off at some place if you said grace or prayers or something over in the US fairly recently? I mean the counter is that vaccination is a real thing. But as mentioned elsewhere in the ep simplistic messaging ie:'free stuff for praying!' is hard to beat and in this case superficially similar.

In response to the guy you responded to at the end:
1. The biological argument ignores the fact that humans have been self-domesticating now for ages. Assuming that evolution only produces aggression in males is an outdated and false idea that has as much basis in reality as the idea of alpha males. In the same way that adult dogs are much more child-like and docile than wolves, adult humans are also display neotony. That is to say that what we consider an adult is actually much closer to a hominid child, evolution has literally adapted us away from becoming fully adult because the co-operative behavior of children is much more preferable.
For more info you can always read:
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Self-domestication
An excerpt from the article: "Self-domestication also refers to the evolution of hominids, particularly humans and bonobos, toward collaborative, docile behavior"
2. This attitude, that violence is inevitable and needed by men to defend the family, IS the problem. The reason you have to worry about men being violent is because those men have the exact same attitude as you, which then reinforces those beliefs. It's a fatalistic, self-fulfilling prophecy, which has no basis in fact.
3. Not only is self-domestication a thing. But the idea that gender roles were completely entrenched even in hunter gatherer times, is basically false. I found this interesting article: https://theconversation.com/women-were-successful-big-game-hunters-challenging-beliefs-about-ancient-gender-roles-153772
While it's not as simple as saying that hunting and gathering were 50/50 it certain shows that women were often hunters, the article posits that the ratio of men/women was a result of rational decision making, rather than biology. This meant that different societies, facing different environments, would come up with different solutions.
4. Instead. it is much more likely that modern gender roles came about with the advent of agriculture, specifically the invention of the plough. The idea being that the strength and stamina required to use a plough for long periods resulted in a division of labor between men and women right from the beginning of these agricultural based societies, which then persisted from then until the modern day. This interesting paper: https://scholar.harvard.edu/nunn/publications/origins-gender-roles-women-and-plough
shows that, quote " the descendants of societies that traditionally practiced plough agriculture today have less equal gender norms, measured using reported gender-role attitudes and female participation in the workplace, politics and entrepreneurial activities"
