Section 506 Podcast: December 23, 2025
Added 2025-12-24 04:26:56 +0000 UTCHappy Holidays from the Section 506 Podcast! This week's episode comes a day earlier than normal due to it being Christmas Week, but there's no shortage of discussion for JP, Jason, and Devin. First they dig into what is effectively a two-map Week 17 given FOX has a full national Eagles-Bills clash. Then, it's another look at Week 18 and what games could be national. After that, the gang discuss how the FanDuel RSNs are once again in trouble of staying afloat. And then it's time to bring it all home with a Festivus-style" Airing of Broadcasting Grievances" from 2025. From wherever you may listen to this, may you be safe and sound for the Holidays!

Good points; the teams with strong RSNs might think twice before turning over some of their revenue to the league. Although there have been reports that Charter Spectrum has been thinking about selling the Lakers' RSN back to the team.

2025-12-25 22:04:34 +0000 UTCIn terms of the syndication if teams go OTA, I think they can put it on an local affiliate owned by the same company that has the rights Both the Golden Knights and Utah hockey Club broadcast air games in AZ on KSAW 61. I know someone said the live in the Binghamton area, and I have seen both Mets and Yankees game that were OTA air up there on a local affiliate . I would assume it's just like a radio network, but maybe more control than like the Raiders airing they're broadcast on the local am station

2025-12-24 21:14:32 +0000 UTCon the main street sports group thing I question how many teams are actually gonna want to be part of a league wide streaming service? You mentioned on the NBA examples like the Knicks and Lakers, but I'm thinking on even the other 2 major sports utilized regional sports networks that aren't FanDuel like even the NBC sports regional networks those from what I have seen seem to be doing OK. And then of course there are teams that own their own networks like the Knicks and Rangers, and even the capitals and wizards owner owning monumental. Just a couple thoughts
