"Releasing the past is a process, and a practice - one that we have to learn. This is where we begin..."

Hello, my loves! 😻✨

Sharing something different with you today. I was reading a new book the other day, and there was one part that I felt like sharing with you today. It was a very spontaneous decision, but my heart really called to do that, so I simply grabbed my USB mic and recorded it for you right there in the moment (and btw that was a few days ago hence me being completely lost in the weekdays haha πŸ™ˆ).

We rarely do trigger warnings here, since my stuff is mostly light-hearted, but this time I'd like to make sure that you know that this topic might get you emotional. At least that's what happened to me while reading, but I decided to keep it in the audio. Because you are not alone in whatever you're going through, and you'll never be πŸ«‚ Hope you remember that.

Sending you all my really tight and warm hug,

Solar xx

P.S. And next time I'll do something more lighthearted, deal? 🀭 Oh and if you're interested, the book this part is from is called "The Moutain Is You" by Briana Wiest.

I... this was really nice.... thank you for sharing this

BankerPaul

Thank you, Solar. I found it interesting that this was released at the time it was, as I have been entering a process of rebuilding after my entire worldview collapsed, to put it briefly and vaguely.

1. True. 2. I do read such books, though not many as of the moment. One book, though fairly academic, that really spoke to me was "Asceticism of the Mind: Forms of Attention and Self-Transformation in Late Antique Monasticism" by Inbar Gravier. In it she analyzes the monk's wrestling with the thoughts and patterns that inhibit his spiritual progress with contemporary psychology in the realms of cognition, obsessive thoughts, and the like.

Altinus

This resonates with me for sure. I don't want to get into details, but I do want to say thank you for posting this and giving me a reason to reflect on myself today. Sending you hugs back as always πŸ«‚β€οΈ

1. I'm gonna say True 2. I don't read books in general, but because of this year and this audio, I think I'm motivated to start reading more and especially these kinds of books to help me shape a better understanding and perception on these kinds of topics

Samson Liang

This was beautiful to listen to. It was a little more emotional than I expected and it kinda motivated me to learn more about these kinds of topics. Thank you for sharing this part of the book with us, Solarβ™₯️

Samson Liang

True, but there's nothing wrong with being in touch with your emotional side in that way 😊 I've always preferred conventional therapy to self-help, personally. I find it's easier for me to talk things out with other people, since I tend to ruminate when left to my own devices haha

Scott B.

True, very true I don't like self help books, but I find the odd one interesting, I like a lot behavioural analysis. I don't think they are silly though, they help a lot of people. Might just be I need to find the right book.

Babble

Thank you for being so caring and supportive Solar! I do love me a good book too, ive got someone in mind I might gift this book too

CharalamBOSS

True I used to read a lot of self help, probably too many haha Im in fact (slowly) reading a psychology book called Influence; and currently some stoic books as you know 🀭

CharalamBOSS

1. True 2. Sometimes i do when i find one that fits and resonates with me

Haru

True or false: Solar is actually a very emotional crybaby and always ends up crying when reading a book πŸ™ˆ Solar wants to know: Do you read self-help/psychology books, or maybe you find them useless/silly? πŸ“–
