Hello, hellooo my celestials! πŸ’˜

A very special reading episode is finally here! This time I'll be reading two myths for you, which are centered around LOVE, of course 🀭 These are "Orpheus and Eurydice" and "Eros and Psyche" πŸͺ½πŸΉ

I recorded it on Valentine's Day actually, in case you're confused why I keep wishing you a great V-Day haha πŸ™ˆ But yeah, it's a Valentine's week and Valentine's month, as I say in this audio, and no one can stop me making it all about love and romance up until March 😜

I adore you with my whole heart, but you already know this πŸ’•βœ¨

P.S. Oh, and this time I was reading from "a real book, an actual book!!" haha, please forgive me for being such a dork at times, can't help it. And a huge thank you to that kind soul who gifted me this gorgeous book πŸ™Œ

πŸ“– The book I'm reading is "Greek Myths: Meet the Heroes, Gods, and Monsters of Ancient Greece" by Jean Menzies. Illustrated by Katie Ponder.

I'm so glad you made another reading episode! The sounds of physically touching and turning the pages were pure bliss, intended or otherwise!

I quite enjoyed listening to your reading. I must first commend your excellent reading voice and pace. It was interesting for me to hear this retelling/rendition of these two tales. Funny enough, despite having a BA in Classics, I never actually read Eros and Psyche from Apuleius's Metamorphoses (The Golden Ass). During your telling, especially the nightly "visits" and the discovery of Eros's identity, I was immediately reminded of the folktale East of the Sun and West of the Moon (There is a book by the same title that contains this tale and others. I would actually be interested to hear you read from it.) Concerning Orpheus and Eurydice, I found it interesting that the author condensed the entire remainder of Orpheus's life to a few sentences. I presume this was intended for children, so they pass over his time among the Argonauts and his brute end either at the hands of Zeus, locals, or at the hands of Thracian Bacchants. To answer your questions, I was always curious if he had to climb up on his way there, meaning he would have to turn to climb back down. If that was the layout of the part of Hades Orpheus entered, I do not think I ever could accomplish such a task. As for the true form of gods killing mortals, it depends. I can only think of Semele getting killed by Zeus upon demanding to be received by him as Hera was first received by him. I will do some digging later.

Loved this one , those little comments at times are my favorite thing they always make me smile (so thank you for that πŸ˜ŒπŸ«‚). I particularly like the happy ending ones but the sad ones also have their history so everything is nice to hear about

Questions for you: πŸ‘€πŸ’” Do you think you'd be able to walk up to the surface without looking back at your lover? 🌌πŸͺ½ Why you think Eros was only coming to Psyche at night? At first, I thought it was because mortals tend to perish whenever they see gods in their true form, but then Aphrodite appeared before Psyche later on, and my theory no longer made any sense πŸ€”
