Can you compare the SMSL balanced DAC with Modi 3 and the THX AAA amp? i know it won't sound as good but as long as it can do 70-80% as good... just would be nice to know.

The day I learned the DACs importance was the day I upgraded from my Audeze Deckard to a Metrum NOS DAC. The difference in my system using the same Deckard amp but now the Metrum was night and day. The DAC is extremely important. With so many options and philosophies the rabbit hole is quite deep. I can’t see myself spending $2k on a DAC, but there is definitely a lot of improvement to your system when you pair your amp with the right front end. Finding that right value to performance ratio is certainly subjective.

Stay there for now. If you want to try balanced the Enog 2 from Geshelli is out there. I have to pair it up and see if that makes a big enough difference.

Are you going to get you hands on the Monoprice Monolith THX AMP/DAC? It's a little more expensive, but I would like to see how it compares.

Also, would love to see more DACs reviewed. Especially in the reference DAC range. It was fun to see you so excited by the DAC and AMP combo.

Good to see you embracing the DAC as an important part of the chain. Arguably the most important part. All I learned in the review is that you like it. Thinking of trying one, but would be superfluous My Wells Milo is sooooo good.

You should test this amp on the advanced alphas since those are amp dependent

This amp is awesome. You are costing me a ton of $$$!!!!! This is my setup right now. Grace sdac - THX AAA 789 - Darkvoice + Sen HD6xx and Hifiman HE-4XX. Would upgrading the DAC make a significant difference? Budget is low right now...
