The HA-2 + BTR3 combo is what I took to RMAF to test headphones out btw. It was that good.

Z Review - Bluetooth DAC/AMP Roundup!!

Comments

Finally opting to go with <a href="https://www.radsone.com/earstudio" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">https://www.radsone.com/earstudio</a>. because microphone support, crossfeed support, app and firmware upgrades, balanced output, all measurements and reviews look good.

I don't believe so... Microphones and these are a pain. Only a few of them function the way you expect and that changes on every device it hooks to.

ZeosPantera

Any one of them has a microphone passthrough? What I mean is uBTR has microphone output, but the moment it is connected to Oppo / Q5 microphone no longer passes.

I think you're probably right, but I'm not sure. I would give it a try and see if the usb can function as an out. A portable Bluetooth receiver just like those that can output digital would be a good idea, that way better DAC/AMP's can be used, on the go, or even at home if you want to avoid wires and your DAC doesn't have USB built in. Also, found this little oddity <a href="https://www.amazon.com/Alto-Professional-Bluetooth-Total-XLR-Equipped/dp/B01CH9MON2/ref=sr_1_1_sspa?ie=UTF8&qid=1539977175&sr=8-1-spons&keywords=bluetooth+receiver+with+digital+output&psc=1." rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">https://www.amazon.com/Alto-Professional-Bluetooth-Total-XLR-Equipped/dp/B01CH9MON2/ref=sr_1_1_sspa?ie=UTF8&qid=1539977175&sr=8-1-spons&keywords=bluetooth+receiver+with+digital+output&psc=1.</a>

I dont think the USB will output from the BTR3. Its input only. UNLESS I AM WRONG. Educate me!

ZeosPantera

I thought I posted before but I guess it didn't take. I wanted to know why you don't use the USB out on the Fiio bluetooth thingy so the DAC and AMP will work with the HA-2. Thx.

Thank you for making this video. I'm a noob and just getting into audio. I bought the Fiio Q1 Mark II and wanted to make it Bluetooth capable because I hate watching the cable bend when I put it in my pocket/bag. I'm assuming I can get an MPOW and line-in to the Q1 Mark II? Is there a loss of quality of audio because the phone is digitally sending signals to the MPOW, then converted into analog to the amp, then analog out to my headphones? Sorry for the essay and/or not making much sense. I'm learning. Thanks!

That bluetooth attachment for the UDUOO XD 05 is for sale on Aliexpress!

Oh, I see. Let us know how you think it compares if you can. Thanks.

Eliot Jacobsen

Thanks

Yeah the Pentacon connector is universal

ZeosPantera

Worse. I'm tech support.

I love my fiio q5. Amp5 module is Sony 4.5 but will it work senn hd660s 4.5?

I don't have one yet. It appeared after I did this vid

ZeosPantera

A wired USB connection will sound a BIT better. But that bit is very small. So small that I don't care. NO WIRES YEEEEE

ZeosPantera

OOOO A Q`1 sized player.

I'm afraid I can't help you, you're too far gone by now...

µ = micro.

Also, the Fiio M9 is looking pretty solid

In regards to the Q5, is there really no audible difference between Bluetooth and line in from a phone? I’ve been thinking about getting a new DAP but I don’t like the piggy back setup at all. At my work desk, I prefer having a stand alone unit that stream tidal. Based on your review, I seem to be better offing getting the Q5 versus a Astell&Kern SR15.

You just unscrew the cap and the clip comes off.

Great roundup, Z! This category gets lost a bit and your user-centric approach is a good one. You focused on the user experience issues of control and size while also addressing quality in general rather than getting lost in the specs. Did you cover the Ear-Studio in the video? I see it on your little guys list (noted as "not pictured"), but didn't see it in the video. Did I miss it? It's my go-to tiny DACAmp. Bought a 2nd one when they went on sale. I blue-tac it to the earcup of whatever I'm listening to on the go. It would be interesting to know how it fared in your roundup.

Eliot Jacobsen

You can take the clip off and or switch the side the clip is on with the blue wave get. They even sell a clip that is bigger to clip on to headphone bands.
