The problem with ranking is why bother with the #2 headphone if the #1 headphone is this XXXX.. Everybody has different tastes and everyone needs to work out what aspects they care about. And even with a 200 point graph showing every possible description that doesn't tell most people if they will love something or not. SSo I just try and eliminate things that are shit.

You know, I've been watching your channel now for a while (about two years). And the question you get in every damn video is: "Which is better, X or Y. I know that has to get irritating. Have you ever considered creating a periodically updated spreadsheet with categories like Open , Closed, Semi Open, Stax and giving them a ranking system? I can only imagine how much fun it must be to read thousands of comments saying Is 1 better than 2? How about 3 Is that better than 1? Better than 2? Sounds like an optometry visit every video.

I just want the drivers, they can keep the rest :P

yeah my thoughts exactly. I feel like wood is only really beneficial on closed or semi-closed headphones. I would much rather have seen them go with sort of metal instead of wood like on the lcd-x. Given how well received the sound is of these they should just offer the same headphone with better build at a higher price point. Similar to what oppo does with the pm 2 and 1

There would certainly be SOME sort of impact but since it is so far on the outside of where the driver might bounce sound it is hard to believe the benefit would be measurable.

Great review!! I am sure the second production run will have the highlighted issues sorted out. If i may in my opinion: The costing on materials + labor + mark up is spot on and not like some "other" manufacturers who are manufacturing and marketing equipment at "what can we sell it for". Monolith you guys go for it!! Get it right and clean up the market from LCD2 - LCD-X.

Look up "shure replacement cable" on ebay. I was looking specifically for a 3m cablea nd found this one, but it's not available now. It shipped from China and took a few weeks but it works great. "The Alpha Romeo of headphones" God, I almost fell over!! So true....and completely agree, 1060 is close-ish to my Stax 2170 system (straw mod only). 1060 has more soundstage, and bass reaches even deeper. I feel 2170 would have a flatter overall FR graph, better approaching true Neutral. And I think 2170 is faster and with even more detail. Stax still wins for me, but it was closer than I expected. I'll still recommend my friends to shoot for Stax, but 1060 is a damn fine stopping point along the way.

I hate those connectors so much. The stock cable actually cuts the sound out if i turn my head either direction. Finally got a replacement cable and it fixed that issue. I was ready to return these, but damn do they sound so good. When I'm not using them I want to be.
