From the Desk of Dr Toni Lodge #049

Welcome to blog 49, and episode #19 of A,Blog,C’s! The blog where I write about the first word that comes into my brain based on this weeks’ letter!

Today we’re working with the letter S.

First of all, actually - thankyou for being so patient with the blog being absent like its author. We’ve missed a week or two due to illness but we’re BACK baby. You could almost say… I was away… because I was… Sick. No just kidding I’m not going to do that to you.

I must admit though the first thing that’s come to mind here is Shrek. The cult hit classic of 2004. Let’s skate on past the fact that Shrek came out almost TWENTY YEARS AGO, WHAT THE FUCK?

Surely we can all agree that even though Shrek is a fantastic piece of cinema, Shrek 2 is particularly wonderful and definitely takes the cake for best film in the trilogy.

Now. Before you come for me for saying Shrek isn’t a trilogy, because there’s 4 films - I’m actually going to do the creators of Shrek a solid here and forget to remind people there is a Shrek 3. Absolutely SHOCKING. S FOR SHOCKING.

Shrek 4 is what I would consider also quite fantastic (the one with Rumpelstiltskin in it lol) but 3 is just crook.

There is actually a very funny joke about Shrek 3 in Workaholics (which is like a very Toni Lodge specific crossover in my opinion) which I cannot BELIEVE is on YouTube. Please enjoy this.

FILM CRITIC Toni Louise Lodge’s Shrek Trilogy Ranking (that no one asked for)

A bronze medal is awarded to…… SHREK 4.

New concept, very funny, really takes you there. Very emotional in parts and you really don’t know how it’s going to end. Incredible cinema.

A silver medal is now awarded to…. SHREK 1.

A genuinely hilarious film that introduced us to Shrek who wasn’t conventionally attractive, but still funny and loveable. I will not be admitting to how recently it was that I realised an Ogre wasn’t a real thing.

And to noone’s surprise - a very well deserved gold medal goes to…. Drum roll… Shrek 2.

Shrek 2 is when I realised that I had a sense of humour. I got so many of the jokes I remember my friends not picking up on. The soundtrack, the references, the joy that comes from this film is just inimitable. No film does it better. No notes.

I hope you’ve enjoyed this weeks’ blog and movie critique. Maybe when I run out of letters in the A,Blog,C’s I should start the alphabet again but do a movie instead of a word? Haha. Maybe we let the blog die a cold, sad death???? Let me know!

Love you so much it hurts!!

Toni xo
