I hope you’re having a great day though! I just ate carrots and a tiny tub of hommus and it was fantastic. (This is not important.)
I want to bring to your attention a TikTok I watched, and almost fell off my chair with how relatable it was. It SMACKED me in the FACE with relatability.
It was a couple of weeks ago I saw it, and I liked it so much that I COMMENTED on it, and my comment is getting likes still (popular girl) and I was like, I need to fucking share this. The link is here, but below is a screenshot of the video which is the main gist that I’m after your opinion on.
It’s a video of a woman standing in her kitchen, and the text reads ‘Why is waiting for your friends to come over after everything is ready the most embarrassing stretch of time ever. Just awkwardly standing in my kitchen drinking, all dressed up, staring at nothing.. It’s my own house, why do I look like I don’t know where I am?! I can’t be left alone with my thoughts for this long. Please hurry up.’
First of all, fuck off. Why have I never had an individual experience?!
Second of all, why is this SO TRUE??? It is so so so awkward!!! Honestly the amount of times I’ve stood in my clean kitchen looking at a charcuterie board that I’ve put together for friends to enjoy before they’ve arrived. Or checked on the pitcher of martinis in the fridge to see how cold it is yet, even though I only checked it two minutes ago and it definitely wasn’t ready?
Or when you stand around for ages and then they arrive and you realise you didn’t clean the bathroom or something.
I’d also like to explore people’s opinion on when you’re having friends over and so you’re kind of ‘dressed up’ and you don’t know whether or not to put shoes on?! Because shoes go with the outfit, but also you’re at home, like is it fucking weird to put special shoes on to have people in your house? Because the second people walk into my house, I want them to feel comfortable, and would encourage them to take their shoes off if they wanted to. Shouldn’t I then also just not be wearing shoes? Am I allowed to still be wearing my slippers or something?
Along a similar vein, before the Toni and Ryan podcast started, we had a video go va-va-va-viral and it was me discussing with Ryan whether or not I have to change my clothes if I see someone at work and then I hang out with them later. Discuss?
Love you!!!! Toni x
