RAIN - Chapter 40 Fake Manga Covers, Part 1

Hey!  Been entirely too long since my last post here.  Sincerely sorry about that.  The good news is that I do have some things to share!  The... not really bad news, but maybe somewhat frustrating, is that I actually meant to share these months ago.  I have no excuse other than ADHD.  I meant to post these, got distracted by whatever (probably other different work), and next thing I know, it's been months and it's only just occurred to me that I never shared them.

All I can say is thank you for putting up with me being a dingbat.  XD

Back during Chapter 40, we see Rain and Emily talking about different kinds of manga.  None of them are real (in that you couldn't walk into a local bookstore or hop on your favorite manga reader app and read these).  They only exist in the Rainverse and inside my brain.  Pretty much all of them are based on old retired story ideas that never really got off the ground.  

This page in particular allowed me to celebrate and send off some of those old ideas that'll probably never come to light.  Incidentally, on that page, I discuss in the blurb that while half of them were just old art I pulled from my DeviantArt gallery, the rest were all original pieces that I drew specifically for that page.  And I also said that I'd share the fullsize versions at some point.  Well, that's what I wanted to do here.  It's not my best work, because I knew going into it that these were going to be seen as just very tiny images on the page, but still, I hope it's interesting and fun to see at a normal size.  ^_^  

Incidentally, while Volume 1 was shown a couple times, I did draw a cover for Volume 2 which I don't think ever appeared in Rain itself.  Still, I've included that here as well.  ^_^

For what it's worth, Volume 1's cover has a bunch of other characters on it.  I've talked a bit in the past about how although Lilith is a longtime important character to me in my writing career, she never really had a story.  There's just a lot of disjointed plot beats that I never really pieced together, and some miscellaneous characters with little real context.  So, while there's not much to say about them, they do have names and basic roles!  The guy with the red shirt and orange face mark was Roland, Lilith's childhood friend.  The girl with the big boomerang and purple face mark is Verrine, who acts as more of a friendly rival.  And the shadow covered grinning face with no marks is Sonneillon, who was the villain.  

Fairly standard JRPG-type adventure story ensues (because of course it does), but exact details remained unclear to me about what exactly happens for decades now.  And even in Rain, the story is described as having never been completed.

Again, there was never really a plot to describe, but I've doing more with this character recently, thanks to Rain.  Birth of the Lilim has been written by the same author as Black Wings Kaminari (in Rainverse canon) and they appear to share some kind of hinted connected universe between them.  What this actually means for Rain, Kaminari, or Lilith, I can't say at this time, but I'm having fun playing with this weird little side arc.  XD

Anyway, many of the other manga covers in that chapter can already be found in my DA gallery.  However, all of the others were, like the Lilim covers above, were drawn specifically for that page of Rain.  I'd like to share the rest of them in full size in the near future, if y'all are interested.  It's not much, but it'll keep me posting here more frequently for a while.  After all, you all deserve something from me after being so supportive when I was having such a weak year.  ^_^
