We got Richard cameoed and Bear introduced in one episode

Coconuts

What do you mean by pulling a James Evans on Reggie?

James Stavola

Nothing, because it’s clear in the SCP series that both Douglas and Diesel are alive. While it’s possible with Donald, I don’t think Victors brave enough to permanently kill off such a prominent character.

Ethan Nemtsas

🥲

Warriorwolf

Damn! You basically pulled a James Evans on Reggie.

Brandon

If Reginald would’ve somehow sacrificed himself to save Sam I feel like it just would’ve felt kinda boring or rushed. Half of the characters in this series have died from sacrificing themselves. First Colin dying to save the other engines at knapford, then Lily dying to save Henry, then Andreas pushing Duncan out of the way from a rockslide, then finally Thomas dying to get the petrol tanker out of Brendam docks and dying from his injuries, and lastly Mickey dying basically in the same way as Lily.

Oh God...not Reginald. Jesus Christ...no. R.I.P Reginald.

DivineDrawings96

A very impactful story this was. This has some decent drama going on throughout with Sam’s metal fatigue and Reginald worrying about that until being reminded of what Sam wants him to do and carry on.And then we got similar events to the Super Rescue story and finally the ending where Mr. Watson revealed that Reginald got into a collision and did not make it, which was very sad. It’s a lot to take in but I think it’s been paced well. I will admit, I thought the news about Sam wouldn’t be serious at all. Considering she shows up in the trailer a second time with Kate for the episode, Grief, I thought the bad news would have been mild at best. I did not expect her to have metal fatigue at all. I did think it was rather interesting that we did not get to see her until the end of the episode, which goes along well with Reginald worrying about her. Speaking of Reginald, I enjoyed him in this episode. We see his perspective of his worries and Patrick helping him out. We also get to see him taking a page from the Super Rescue story and using that to help out both Bear and Francis. That montage of him pushing and pulling them two with Henry, Gordon and James whistling at him, that was a very small but sweet interaction. Bear and Francis were also enjoyable. I like that their dynamic from the books has stayed in universe. In fact, I love that you brought the mention of the Enterprising Engines book up here. I remember back in 2020 in the episode, Aviation, we’ve seen the events of Percy and Harold happen and that took place two years after the story about them came out and I asked you if Awdry’s book caused a ‘life imitating art’ sort of thing. I remember you said that would be brought up in a future story and it has happened here! With some differences like the breakdowns being opposite for Bear and Francis and Reginald pulling the Super Rescue. That was great to see that brought up. The ending part was quite impactful. First came the foreshadowing with Reginald taking the motorail train, thanks to Patrick’s suggestion. As soon as Reginald questioned why couldn’t Henry, James or Gordon take the train because he wanted to be close to Sam and then Sam coming out of the works, feeling way better than ever (which is great for her), I knew that was all over for him. Hearing Watson confirming that Reginald didn’t make it, that made me very upset. I feel bad for him because he has been delivering bad news a lot, I feel bad for Patrick because he was the one who suggested that Reginald should take the train and I feel bad for Sam because she now lost her husband and now she will have to deal with the griefing process and has to try and carry on like she said to Reggie. I also love that the credits have no music and no Sodor background either. That’s a nice detail to the tone of the ending scene. Brilliant. The only feedback I have with this episode is just the night time lighting. I don’t know what your lighting settings are for night time scenes in Trainz but whatever it is, it needs to be changed to be much lighter, something on the levels of the night time lighting from Season 3. It’s so dark to even see what’s going on at all. Other than that, I really love this episode a lot. It’s sad to see Reginald go but I’m really happy he had his last huge moment of his Super Rescue. Great work, Victor!

Matty Harris

Theory: Reginald got off screened by Marshall D. Teach’s offscreen haki

Callum

man I have not felt that much sadness since the death of Thomas and probably Dudley but kind of we already know it was going to happen by the hints but still it's just painful to see the the engines sad over Reginald's death but overall can't wait to see episode grief which is part two of this episode i belive

som man

I'm glad that's enough is pip and cheerful like Thomas but I feel sorry for her now

David Henry Williams Brooks

motorail lets go!!!!

Jake DB

THB, it was pretty clear to see that Reginald was the last Original MIDI to stay alive until this episode, Now that he’s gone, there’s no more original MIDI. p.s: how much you wanna bet that the Scottish twigs or Bruce will die later on?

Tr33 / RobbyKeeneFan

Whyyyyyy?!?

James_Ellison

For crying out loud, knocking off another engine… I’m guessing Bear will be taking over. At least now Reginald can meet & forgive his brother

Shrooma

Reminds me of Peter’s accident “coming from opposite direction, yes” as well as Henry’s.

Shrooma

Damn, we got a new character and lost an old one. Reginald survived 6 and a half seasons, the front lines, dealt with most of his middie colleagues’ deaths, and his own brother’s death, just to die from some points and another train.

Ivatt 2MT 41241

I just checked. The Atlantic was always there. Reggie appears near the end of the intro

Doug Dimmadome

Not Reginald, anybody but Reginald

Mario sonic 64

My theory was half right. I thought Reginald was going to sacrifice himself to save Samantha. I was close.

Thomas Dignan

I just remarked something in the intro. When you see the first shot, there supposed to be Salty, Barry, REGINALD and another one... In today episode tho, it replace by an Atlantic type loco

DeterminedGuy

I knew he was about to die See points were there

Jonathan Johnson

Really I do not like how this death was done, man it was off screen

Jonathan Johnson

As did Watson

The Lone Egg Boss

I PREDICTED THAT IT WAS METAL FATIGUE AAAAAAAAAAA

Alistair Harding

Wow. I had a feeling someone was going to die in this episode, but with the previews and the summary video, I didn't know whether it'd be Sam or Reggie. You really know how to hit us where it hurts, Victor. I just hope you won't start killing characters off left and right like you did in season 5. Can't wait for next week's episode.

DJ0401 K

I don't believe Reggie is gone 😭😭😭

Billy Jordan

Fun fact. Samantha is the first engine to survive metal fatigue

Vincent

No Reginald is Dead he was one of the OG characters since season one RIP the Goat

Ezaq

Damn that leaves only Donald, Douglas and Diesel left of the Midis locomotives

Mungi

Welcome to the series, Bear. I'm glad to see that your relationship with Francis hasn't changed. It's interesting to see Motorail services on Sodor, which makes me wonder why it was never in the show. Samantha had metal fatigue. I knew she would make it out, but it's still not a nice thought. Good use of Super Rescue, both in mentions and execution. It's nice to see Reginald got one last Hurrah; he will be missed. Another good Patrick appearance, can't wait to see how things continue with him and Francis' development. It was a smart idea not to have any credit music. helps with the tone. a well-made episode overall, in my humble opinion.

Joshua Raffensberger

Spoiler still here? good. i love and hate this death so much… on one hand i love how the weight of the situation sunk in at the end and us worrying about samanthas metal fatigue for half the episode. on another note, i hate how you handled reginalds death. you have a character for 7 whole seasons and we expect his death to be somewhat grand but nope, he collided with a train on the mainland offscreen… victor you handled the deaths of characters like geofrey and peter so well but to just have a quick 5 second mention of his crash at the butt end of the episode?? on a new note, for grief i feel like kate will play a big role in it, and patrick likely has very bad survivors guilt since he said reginald should take it. guess i gotta wait a week :/

TheRealJTJ

So the next ep will probs be the one where we see the thumbnail with Samantha and kate

Keanu Leah

Dudley’s episode was meant to be a one off. I imagine we’ll see more of what happened to Reginald in the next story considering ‘Grief’ is meant to act as a part 2.

Ethan Nemtsas

I unfortunately did, I pieced it together from what we saw in the season overview with the choice of clips with Samantha in them.

Sean Steere

Glad to see at least the credits didn’t distract from the shocking ending, though I do wish we saw the crash like the one Dudley had off screen

Sean Steere

SPOILER: . . . . . I cannot imagine how much guilt Patrick will have, he basically signed Reginalds death papers

Nigel Seow

The way you’ve handled death has improved so so so much since season 5. You’ve allowed the weight of the situation to actually sink in. I’m so happy (and sad) to see how much better this is. You’ve done an exceptional job.

Ethan Nemtsas

I was sitting here thinking maybe the title was talking about Samantha, and then boom right at the end there. Victor I commend you I was not expecting that.

That Guy With A Beard

Finally we get Bear after he has been seen in all the title sequences going back to 2017
