While I agree it's not an investment in the strictest definition of the word, you're actively investing money into a project when you support a creator. If you constantly let an unemployed friend borrow money while they're trying to get back on their feet and they never try to find a new job, you would be rightfully upset. You would likely pull your funding at some point, and that's all anyone has ever talked about in regards to this. I personally don't think it's reached that level yet, but it's absurd to just wave off the concerns. Having said that, I don't think the wait has been unreasonable. More communication from the developer would be appropriate, however.

The problem is, and I am not saying this Dev is doing it, but there are alot of devs on Patreon who have making thousands of dollars a month. Now think about that sort of payment method, these people, or companies are making a monthly payment thats suppose to be put forward to completing a game. Captitalism speaks, if you want to continue making money for making that game tell me, what happens if you complete that game? That's right, the money stops coming and you lose clients who were supporting you. I was interested in helping support this Patreon projects but I just see to many developers at this point taking advantage of their supporters with these projects that are drawn out or just have no plans of ever ending and the game ever being finished. I will finish with this, if you want to support a game before dropping money on it, research a little, and determine if this is one of those never-ending projects. Some key examples of what I look at before investing is if the developers putting more work inventing work to be done before completing the current project he has already started. There is nothing wrong with that, but to invent work instead of completing work he's already started only tells me they are looking for ways to extend the longevity of their project. Does this apply to DarkCookie? That is for the investors to decide at this point.

Well companies don't have to do that. Some investors they can tell to fuck off, because to be honest their level of investment is so small that it doesn't matter. And you do get an update. Every day you get to see which bugs were added, and which bugs were fixed/removed. Not every "company" is subject to hard deadlines like that. Especially not one like this where people pay during the dev cycle (if they want to), and not just for the game itself when it comes out.

I have to correct you on this one. Sadly, this won't even be half an update... If you read Cookies post 5 months ago he said that the next half will be broken up into 2 smaller sections, meaning we will only get a quarter update, once they pull their shit together and finally release it. Then we will have to wait another 5-6 months to get the last quarter, and only then will they begin working on Rhonda. Seeing how nobody complained about the quarter update thus far, and how money still keeps flowing, they will stick to this format, so the next full update will probably be out in 2023. Sad.

@Ghostlag But then there are a lot of other creators that do have much shorter release schedules, and that're consistent. Honestly I think it's just how the story is done that slows things down. An entire update is dedicated to a character, with a couple of new side characters thrown in there, but that's a lot of story work. Those paths have to get drawn, coded, tested, etc. I'd rather have that split up, and spend the extra time on giving extra scenes for certain characters. Mia for example hasn't been touched for so long, to the point where she just feels like a dead character. The MC is basically boinking everyone, so why not have these random occurrences during an update. It'd bring some characters back to life, and feel like at every block or room the MC has an opportunity for some kind of sex.

First, seven grand isn't a lot for a coder, that's actually quite cheap. Secondly they produce something at least 25k people really want and that's just the patreons, we can probably easy call that a 100k people counting non-patreons too. If at some point you create something a 100k people really want feel free to have seven grand too.. How long would it take you and me to create something similar? Years? And here we are, getting it for free. I've chosen, voluntarily, to support the project with a dollar a month but it's still free.

Patreon only takes 5% cut Plaron, if they were even working a standard work week on the game with the people they have, we would be getting updates massively quicker than we do. Its clear they're doing it 'for' the money. If you take the cut and split it evenly with after tax's they'd still be making over seven grand a month each.

no, i haven't seen a game with this amount of support actually. but the first game of this genre that i ever played is called Milfy City and ever since i found it its still in the same version, unfortunately. That made me search for other games and eventually i found Summertime Saga, Harem Hotel and others. But it feels like SS is way better than the others and the updates are not slower compared to the others that i'm interested. Which games, and do they also get the amount of support as this one? Fans complaining about a slow dev cycle is a good thing. It means they want more of this game. This is one of my favorite games, but I'm not gonna sit here and be too happy about getting content every 4-5 months with there sometimes being only 4 hardcore scenes in the update. It's a game that I've really enjoyed, and I would love to see more from. Now a slow dev cycle doesn't mean the team is lazy. Lots of things contribute to a slow dev cycle, like the complexity, but that doesn't mean fans can't air their frustration. I don't know why things are slow, but it could be just from the raw complexity of a game like this. Having to build out an entire story per update sounds like it could take a lot of time, whereas making a small chunk of it, and adding some random hardcore scenes (with characters not really involved in the update), could speed things up and give fans a lot of extra material.

Maybe Tina could invite the MC over... and she forgot to mention that he wouldn't be the only guy ;) It could even be with more than 2 guys! I hope DC and his staff focus on hardcore scenes that aren't necessarily a part of the story so that stuff like this can just be put into the game without really having to be properly set up storywise.

I like the game but the past updates seemed weird as it so slow that i feel like its just a money graber. Its one of the best games out there i find but all i hear is update soon and it happens like 3 months later for a phew adjustments..
