[Early Access] What Koreans Think of "Skinship" (Touch, Hugging, etc.)

Comments

I agree completely. Hugging is so common among Hispanic/Latino families and there are different types...lol. Let's see... (1) the side hugs if you aren't feeling it but don't want to be rude, (2) "bro hugs" with my uncles and male cousins (half a handshake and touching opposite shoulders), (3) "full-on hugs" with aunts and female cousins. As toddlers, my uncles would always hug by picking us up, bear-hugging, while shaking us back and forth making our legs swing side-to-side. My mom always hugs and then kisses my cheek when I visit my parents. We are just huggers in our culture.

Wow. I didn’t expect this, such a culture shock. As a Hispanic not kissing someone on the check or hugging them is rude. This is literally how we greet each other. Welp You learn something new everyday. On my way Rosetta Stone 🤣...

With regards to ur search for a content writer, I would take the job but I'm so swamped with offers. Did I mention I can't speak Korean for shit ? Lololol

Skinship is so common place in the US regardless of gender or closeness, that nobody gives it a second thought. But I can see its a major concern in Korea.

Hey Danny and David, I know from the monthly council you are looking for a content writer who could host their own series on your channel for Naked Seoul... have you considered asking Rachel Kim? She does lifestyle content on her channel, has a different demographic related to yours, is young/bilingual, and a great on camera personality. I think she checks all your boxes. I love her and think she would do a fabulous job. Hope your hiring is going well.
