Balance of power theory that is based on international relations realist theory arguably reduces moral agent persons as tokens who exist within a nation state where anarchy between nation states is the norm, and therefore members of any nation state are equated with the nation state as a unified moral agent- idealist and constructivist international relations theorists find this view non sense - which entails the counter factual that a power shift probably not be in the favour of the super power in question would be true if and only if actions XYZ were not taken to mitigate the power projection of the antagonistic nation state to the ultimate interests of the nation state in question. The counterfactual based on MAD for each realist nation state entails peace.
