MCastle - D1 reworked - Early Access

This is going to be the first of a long series called "Nobody asked for this, but me."

It always lingered in the back of my mind how through feedbacks and passing comments I read online how they didn't enjoy the beginning of the game.

It was boring, nothing happens, there's too much chatter etc.

But one feedback in particular really struck a cord (Not in a negative way if you're reading this.)

They asked me if there were multiple writers because Joel didn't feel the same and, wow, that really pushed me into doing this. It caught me so off guard I couldn't even admit that they were right!

The difference between D1 and N3 is 3 years of development and, as I understood where I wanted to go, things changed. And I didn't like generic anime boy Joel that shows up on D1.

This rewrite aims to fix all these issues I just discussed. I shortened dialogues, removed unnecessary banter, changed dialogues and rewrote a few scenes to make more sense and be in line with future days.

Basically Day 1 is all about buffing Joel as a character. My petty lil boy now hits that sweet spot between awkward and sassy. More avoidant than generic shy.

I made sure the plot evolves in the same direction, but the conversations are smoother, there are new funny lines I really like and the dynamics between characters are visible and realistic.

I am aware that these new scenes created a plot hole in Clyde's N2 which is already in my to do list, it's nothing too bad, but now the things he says during their heart to heart don't make sense. That means I'll have to quickly adjust that in the future.


We fixed the gallery
We added Ryan's theme to the music room
We fixed an issue with Clyde's sprites having a strange behavior due to inconsistent size.

We're at 88 out of 120. I'll compromise and offer the Liam CG if we hit 100. I'll see you guys next month with Ryan's D4!
