Once the principle is established, i.e. energy -> work, it won't be difficult to reinvent things. Although lightbulbs will probably be a bit of a challenge to get going. Aegon isn't that familiar with light bulbs. Plus with wildfyre going to go through ( ;] spoiler) a number of invention cycles, it wouldn't be so out of scope to think that it can be used to also light the world in a safe manner

Also, yes, this changes the game...and the next few chapters shows an almighty queen crashing onto the board! One that will have consequences for Aegon as well.

2024-04-07 19:43:26 +0000 UTCI really really really (and I do mean really) hope that Aegon goes to war *before* heeding Viserys’s summons and rocks up into the throne room as the badass liberator of the east. Edgy power fantasies aside, I can’t wait to see the further development of Elamaerys while Aegon is away at war. I hope the kids get to have magical phone calls with their daddy via glass candle while he’s away threatening any potential enemies away from their inheritance. I also hope that Valyrian steel and/or fused stone is figured out during/before the end of the war. The rest of the world hearing that the same people who conquered the Ghiscari and traversed the sunset sea are also capable of reproducing Old Valyria’s greatest works is just to cool. Also, in the name of Draconys and Gaelysia being the Targaryen home away from the capital, I hope that the castle and/or city that gets made there is Valyrian in design. That would be super cool. Amazing chapter as always!

The Throne versus what Aegon has to say and do. This is the turning point for war in his eye, will his brothers call be a nuisance, or reality setting in that there is no turning back. I constantly consider how Aegons war will change the machinations of Allicent, Otto, Deamon, Rhaenyra, Visery, Corlys, Rheanys, The Triachy, the whole board and set. You can’t just promote a Pawn to Queen without major grumbling from the opponent mate.

2024-04-02 19:49:37 +0000 UTCHappy Easter! Ee Facelesa Men...a large part of their threat is the way their magic is unknown. For example magic shadow demon babies kinda make sense when you think of sacrifice and giving life energy to strike at an enemy and the fact that valyrian steel, a potent magical sword that heavily factors life and blood, can counter shadow demon babies is also something that makes sense. But Aegon isn't aware how being no one and everyone can make sense or what the counter to that magic is. He's thought a lot about but he's not sure how to go about it. Ironically he probably needds to get a hand on a faceless man and experiment

I'm glad that we finally got to see Elamaerys and see Aegon's vision for it as well as his plans for its development as well as him settling his family there before heading back east so that he can start his war and make sure everyone get the message that they are not to mess with him and his people. I am hoping that along the way Aegon finds a way to completely counter the Faceless Men and make them a non-issue for himself and his family as well as his people. I am sure Dragonlords of Valyria had ways to deal with Faceless Men though the method is probably lost due to the Doom but perhaps Aegon can rediscover it.
