Fan Post! (A Bounty Hunter's Odyssey: Ahern Dumbledore: by Nicogen)

So a little while ago, Nicogen approached me about writing a story set centuries after exodus, one that follows the story of Ahern Dumbledore, a descendant of Aberforth Dumbledore, a bounty hunter who finds himself diving deep into a rabbit hole.
In all honesty, I'm quite honoured that someone wishes to write a story based on Odyssey.
There are snippets in there that show some rough ideas of where the successor of Odyssey is headed by the time of Halo era.

I also think there is not much need to extend the "society has problems and we are going to fix it" plot. Better to wrap the story up, then to rehash it, but this time in space and with the MC being the main leader instead of a minor lord.

2022-10-04 17:03:57 +0000 UTCMostly fun, the ending with the secret villain working for or toward what I presume is the Gravemind was hella stupid though. You would think Sayre's ability to see the future would only grow, that Knight's (hell citizens) would swear magical oaths, or that the people would have been educated and indoctrinated on the dangers of the flood, but whatever. Generally speaking the interlude implies a level of disfunction in the magic civilization that current trend implies isn't going to exist, so the whole thing kinda falls apart. There's enough stuff going on in Halo cannon that you don't really need to add internal magical threats to keep the story interesting, not to mention how easily it would be to take this to a multicross either in the same universe or through jumping once the Halo plot finished. Sayre either is getting into Xanatos level crazy with his plans or his whole magic utopia falls apart at some point. Neither is reassuring for my future enjoyment, but I'm withholding judgment till we actually get to the Halo arc. In short, while fun I hope this isn't cannon.

Not sure if there was any collaboration at all but I don’t want to have preconceived notions or spoilers on the main story. The author has my thanks on expanding the universe and I look forward to reading their works in the future
