Still working on Adoptables for this month (I guess next month now). I lost confidence in my Kodkod base (and my inking skills) so I did a throwaway drawing that became a new base (but not for Kodkods) - COMING UP: Tigers, Pumas and Lionesses. Adding the variable details, over half done, the inking and colouring should take another 2-3 days, then I might give the Kodkod base another try.
IN THE MEANTIME:
Another batch of art/NPCs I did for another Episode of the SciFi game I'm in when it was my turn to GM again (a few months ago). I think I'm responsible for about half the aliens that have shown up so far.
UAP NPCs:
Captain Medical Officer Daisy "Dixie"* Dixon
In her 60s, lead Botanist on the Science Vessel UAP Cindica (she'll claim it has to do with a citrus fruit but everyone knows better).
Basically my canon is she's the great great great granddaughter of the character I played in a Stargate game once, same red hair and same propensity for wanting to discover new plants to get you high (for medical purposes, of course).
She carries around a flask of her Great Great Great Grandma's Famous Moonshine, it is very highly flammable but thankfully open flames are less common in the future. Electrical sparks notwithstanding.
*Forgive me I did not know the connotation or meaning of 'Dixie' at the time, the fact she calls herself that has more to do with her thinking it sounds cute more than anything - this takes place 200 years in the future; and I'm a non-American. I've seen it more as a person's name than a reference to, well, the Confederates. There is a Donkey Kong character named Dixie for instance, and I don't think she sounded Southern at all? -.-;
Medical Officer Ezret Kermhan & Science Officer Harper Ta Atua
Friend's of Pavel's, Ezret in particular she's known since their mutual time at UAP Academy. The three of them served on the UAP Starskipper, with Pavel having transferred a few months prior and Ezret and his partner, Harper, transferring to the UAP Cindica more recently. This semi-reunion was slightly soured by...
Captain Tactical Officer Venya Da-Shoat
Pavel's ex-fiancee. Venya is a Kuuduen (from the planet Kuud) currently serving aboard the UAP Qirin. She was not at all pleased to see Pavel and things got... kinetic.
Pavel is in the wrong and she knows it*. They were both able to be civil after the initial altercation.
Pavel still has feelings for Venya, but knows things can't work out - they're both too career-oriented and UAP protocol prohibits fraternization between higher and lower ranked individuals is strictly prohibited; this would have made their marriage rather tricky had the wedding happened.
*Pavel said "Yes" to the proposal, and almost immediately got cold feet and ghosted Venya for several weeks... which turned into several months, which turned into several years... the mission this episode centered around was the first time they'd seen each other in five years.
Science Officer Prof. Elody
An Aldevarii like Pavel, she is the Linguistics Expert of the team, currently serving aboard the UAP Qirin . She is planning on resigning soon to be a full time spouse and step-mother; she doesn't want to be away from them all the time. She'll probably still be a linguist/translator but she'll be working as a remote contractor.
The Persopoulos Siblings
Eager young space cadets! These junior Officers have just graduated and are eager to make a good impression and/or kick some ass.
It is not entirely common for Rubahals to have quadruplets, but not unheard of.
Junior Medical Officer Aisha: MO Daisy Dixon's apprentice; shy, good with plants, not so good with people, but she tries.
Junior Tactical Officer Farrah: A bit of a wildcard; she is as likely to attempt to befriend a potential hostile as she is to attack - perhaps a little over-eager, but she has potential and will learn to read situations better with time.
Junior Science Officer Shikrum: A little grumpy; good with machines, not fond of people, especially those whose names start with 'Far' and end in 'Rah'. He does actually love all his siblings equally.
Junior Medical Officer Daraya: Spent most of his childhood being the sibling with the first aid kit, so decided to make it official. Working on becoming a certified Doctor.
The Inhabitant of Planet Zuli:
BIG DANGED PARROTS:
Dubbed skunkbirds by Captain Dixon, natively known as skrawks, these birds are quite intelligent, curious, playful and friendly. They left 'gifts' that allowed the Away Team to realize that the planet was most likely inhabited by technologically advanced lifeforms.
THAT CREEPY THING:
Dubbed 'spidoons' (spider-baboons) by Captain Dixon, known natively as... I can't seem to find the notes anymore.
Territorial, traveling in groups of around four at a time, they spit webbing that is both very sticky AND acidic, as well as having a nasty claw-attack.
Pavel was one-hit KO'd by one that was attempting to attack Venya.
I do not know how to balance my fights.
She got better.
The Zulians:
They were highly advanced until an accident with an experimental weather-control device forced the population underground (where their species originated) for several hundred years; subsequent quakes diminished the population and further development of their society/science. With the help of the UAP, they will soon rebuild their cities above-ground.
K'tal and I'nol were the first to seek out and make contact with the Away Team, who assumed them to be adults of their species. The actual adults had been too busy tending to the injured and damages from the most recent quake to investigate the strange frequencies and 'gifts' the skrawks were bringing them.
S'ela and D'ohr were 2 of the 5 adults of the search-party that went after the missing teenagers.
