WIP- Royal Surveillance
Added 2017-04-08 12:53:07 +0000 UTCSometimes I forget how much I loved the Saturday Morning Sonic the Hedgehog (or SatAM Sonic) cartoon, but then sometimes I remember.
And back in the early-ish days of the Archie Comic series, a story called 'The Quest' was written, and I adored it because it promised a very rosey and happy future for the characters (as well as a compelling secret origin for N.I.C.O.L.E), and it kept me hooked on the series far past the point of fan-tolerence, because I so SO wanted to see the future depicted manifest in actual time, instead of the general... shittiness... that happened for most of the 90s and 2000s.
Anyway, about 3 partial retcons happened and then they rebooted the series entirely because of some exploited legal loopholes rendering most of their existing canon null and void. *silent glares at a particular, now fired, Head Writer*
Another thing I liked about the series was Pre-Robotnik Mobotropolis. And let me tell you it featured so briefly and in such limited shots it was VERY difficult to recreate Acorn Palace (the more distinctive War Ministry building gets a lot more focus).
I'm no architect and I'm not sure I could ever accurately replicate the aesthetic and style that was created for Mobotropolis... but I tried and I'm reasonably happy with this rough sketch so far.
In my heart and head-canon, the future promised to younger-me would finally be attained, and Sally never truly shifts to completely proper royal behaviour or dress, and sometimes jsut wants to watch the city she was born in and rules exist in it's recovered glory.
I'm sure her husband, children and father are somewhere nearby too.
