I set up the sounds very early in the process... but when I record a track with different sounds (e.g. clean and dirty) I will set up a very neutral crunch preset. One that sounds clean enough to get the dynamics right on the clean parts... but just enough crunch that the heavy parts sound ok. Then once recorded I split them out to the different tracks in Logic Pro. Thanks to Patreon supporters I do have a floor controller now (Nektar Pacer) and I've worked out how to use that - so I can actually turn effects on and off or change patches when I record. It also has an expression pedal connected so that I can do interesting things (look out for the Rage Against The Machine cover coming soon!). Hope that helps... Sparky
