DDLC project scheduling discussion

The DDLC project is a collab with AZmaybe9, where the final work is split between two partially parallel versions, i.e. certain scenes are identical, namely the ending scene. My version is near complete, while AZ is still getting started.

Here's the problem: I cannot finalise the parallel scenes in my version until AZ catches up, which will likely take over a month. Meanwhile, I also need to finalise the requests of my top patron tier, which I do prefer to not leave til AZ also nears completion, since it may delay the public release even more. Additionally, there has been progress on my next project featuring Pyra/Mythra, and it is possible for this project to be completed before the DDLC project.

There are two approaches for tackling this:

1. The DDLC project may be supported by patrons at an earlier state:
+ Patrons will be able to preview the full work earlier
+ The supporting dates between DDLC and Pyra/Mythra projects will be spread across different months. If they happen on the same month, I won't be able to distinguish patrons who get capped off from their monthly limit, and so rewards of the Pyra project will have to wait until the month after rolls in.
- The previews will depict an unfinished version of the animation, though whether it changes in the final work is unknown.

2. The DDLC project is supported when it's at a finalised state:
+ The previews will depict finalised animations and scenes.
+ The buffer between supporting the project and full release would be more regular, i.e. 1-2 weeks instead of over a month (if the previous approach is used instead).
- The late buffer may delay the final release even further
- Aforementioned conflict involving DDLC and Pyra/Mythra projects will likely occur.

As an additional note, since AZ will be dealing with the render process of this project on the Unreal engine, the previews will look aesthetically different from the final work regardless of approach. The previews will likely be rendered in EEVEE, like the previews of the previous work.

Let me know which approach you would prefer me to take.

Comments

I feel bad for Az. He's really been leaking to finish his Neko project, since people have been waiting for it for so long. I just hope he'll find the time he needs to rest between that and this collab.
