Jess is silently sitting on the couch as the TV report keeps going. My lack of confirmation of her spot-on deduction about me being the last Primordium is enough of an answer. This is a move I hadn't anticipated.
The Primeval Inherent is planning to use the players against me. Weed me out, and have the greatest force on my side no longer on my side.
I doubt this was a spur-of-moment tactic. The great hivemind planted this seed long before we had any confrontations with each other. Dr. Grace Virgil isn't a name I'm familiar with or her link to Teller-Bravo.
When I get back into the game, there is something we'll have to do. The Keynote will have to wait. Stopping The Primeval Inherent using Primordium technology will have to wait.
Aurora and Durado aren't going to like this, but we'll have to put this plan on hold. We have to deal with this new problem. If the players aren't holding The Parasite back, then I'll have to find a way that does. Everyone will be searching for the last Primordium.
Which is me.
"C'mon, Scott. Tell me what's on your mind... The only time you have a look like that is when things are getting complicated for you."
My sister's voice takes me out of my thoughts, and look over at her. She's got a slightly worried look on her features.
It's understandable, considering the times when I haven't had this type of look. A sigh escapes my lips, and I lean back into the couch. Jess takes this as an invitation, and she scoots closer. Wrapping her arms around me from the side and getting comfortable.
"Yeah... I'm the last Primordium... And the players were the only defense I had against The Primeval Inherent at the moment. Now, that advantage is gone. Everyone will be looking for me instead of trying to hold off The Parasite."
That's the gist of the situation. The report on TV continues, and they're showing possible leads and ideas to reveal the person.
I've made precautions for such an event. No one will find out who I am unless I want them to. The players that play Aetnerus Universe every day see it as a bargain to get the last Primordium instead of fighting The Parasite head-on.
It won't cost as much, and it'll bring a quicker end to the game-over scenario. They fail to see The Primeval Inherent has no such intentions, which is why I'll have to step in and do something about it.
"Do you need my help?"
The concern in her voice is appreciated. But all of this has long been in the making. Everything I learned on Primordium Prime... The truths... The brilliance of The Primordium... There is something much bigger going on here.
"I'll be fine, Jess. No one knows who I am, and there isn't a chance in hell someone is finding that out."
The few people that might've known died. The few worlds I've visited have either been destroyed or consumed by The Parasite. The Primeval Inherent followed me. It found a trail where others couldn't.
Meaning that it wasn't that hard for it...
If it can see things like that... Subtle things... Then perhaps...
I've got an idea.

Scott has taken off in his car somewhere in town. Said he had to meet up with a friend. I didn't know he had any friends. He's left me at the house all by myself.
"I wonder what changes his in-game race did to him..."
Everyone that made a character in The Aeternus Universe had a crisis a little while ago. They gained the features and abilities of the races they chose in the game. However, Scott created a program that fixed the problem.
He was undoubtedly changed like the rest of us were.
It's not something I've asked, given most of the changes people went through want to be kept private. My current situation standing. From what I know about the Primordium... They were the first interstellar and intergalactic people.
They are the people who left the footsteps in the sand that everyone in The Aeternus Universe follows.
"It's certainly exciting..."
I don't know what'll happen to the world if The Aeternus Universe did have a game-over. But this is sure as hell exciting.
