Investing in the Future, Again!

Been a while since the last update here so I figured I'd let you guys know about where your money has recently gone!

A few weeks ago we tried to do another cassette roulette on GatorUNbox, unfortunately the walkman that I used to play the tapes with didn't quite make it. The tape recorder used in the first roulette has since been broken after I loaned it to someone (ugh). I looked into getting a replacement and with some searching on eBay I've found another Sony "cassette corder" tape player just like the original one I had. This one even comes with its AC adapter so I can plug it in and not risk the batteries dying when I'm trying to rip the audio from the tapes directly.

My editing computer has been a workhorse for all 11 years of Gatorbox. I've literally had the same computer this whole time, nicknamed the "No-Scoper 2000" because I bought a case that looks like a military ammo box. It doesn't have the same parts in it however because I've gradually updated it as time has gone on. Now I've purchased an 8TB HDD for it so that I can store the literal entirety of Gatorbox on one drive as opposed to the current system which has videos and media spread out across three separate drives. Hopefully being able to consolidate everything to one drive will make the editing process even more efficient for me.

Finally we all know the story of Ol' Reliable, the laptop from Gatorbox's early years that served me well. Ol' Reliable was replaced with a used laptop that the community dubbed "New Reliable" but it might be time to think of another nickname because a third laptop is inbound. I was given a used laptop that was missing a hard drive so I spent about $50 on the smallest HDD I could find. I also added a five dollar USB stick to the order so that I can use it to install Linux on the laptop for maximum speed. I want something super low impact so I can have my stream chat windows open and not have any lag switching between tabs or opening Discord.

Even though I only bring in just under $100 on this Patreon I've gotten very good at stringing that cash out and making it go a long way! The laptop HDD cost about $55 with the USB stick and the replacement tape recorder was only $25. The rest of it, and some of last month's Patreon fund went toward the 8TB drive for my editing PC. (That cost around $120.)
