The RFS AI Pack 2.0: Skip to "the good stuff"!

NOTE: THIS POST CONTAINS MAJOR SPOILERS FOR "THE RFS AI PACK 2.0"!!!

Last month I released a landmark AI pack for the freeware game Robot Arena 2, the "2.0" update to my 20 year old RFS AI Pack series. It was welcomed by the Robot Arena 2 community who were enthusiastic about my return to the scene with a surprise for the game's 20th anniversary. However like all of my works there are some secrets buried inside the AI Pack. Were you able to solve the puzzle and find the password to the archived folder? If you were stumped, or if you just want to see the extras without playing the game, this post is for you.

The solution to the puzzle can be found one of two ways. Players who like to snoop around may have sniffed out the building component folder labeled "motor". There were no new motors added to the game with this AI pack so that should be a red flag, though the folder name is generic enough that you'd overlook it while browsing the full game's component roster. If you were to snoop around the motor folder though you'd see it's not a motor at all but a metal plate with a special texture the contents of which reveal the password to the "Secret" folder.

The other way of solving the puzzle is the intended solution and it's a little more abstract. The aforementioned metal plate with the password on it is actually contained inside one of the AI opponents, Killdozer specifically. If you flip Killdozer over you'll see there's a graphic of a key on its underside. This is your clue that Killdozer should be inspected further. If you were to copy the .bot file for Killdozer into your robot designs folder and import it into your team you can then open the robot in the bot lab and take a closer look at it. If you remove Killdozer's batteries you'll see the textured metal password plate buried inside the robot.

If either of these two solutions stumped you, or if you just wanted to see what's in the Secret folder, here is the solution --

THE PASSWORD TO THE ARCHIVE IS: snipe1040 (case sensitive)

Inside you'll find some goodies from yesteryear; things I've worked on in bygone eras that were previously lost to time but included in this special release for super players to find. There is "The Least Worst of The Radio F Show", a special presentation of the web series I made while I was in high school, along with a viewing guide that goes into the behind the scenes of working on the show. There is also "The Sound of Bootlegging Vol. 1", an album comprised of music ripped from a bootleg Famiclone plug & play device. "Bad Ass Goose" is an Atari 2600 game I worked on briefly but never got around to finishing; it is a modification of Tron: Deadly Discs. And finally there are some Flash loops I made for the now defunct website Poop Loops. I made over 100 loops but these are my favorites.

Enjoy the goodies, and I'll see you next game!
