Behind the Emote: "Alter The Spicy" (GBspicy)

"Alter The Spicy" came about from a spot of Engrish on the menu of a Chinese restaurant that Jumon, one of our moderators, frequented. Printed in bold red Times New Roman, the menu let you know that if something was too spicy (or not spicy enough), the spiciness could be altered. We've run into other funny iterations of "alter the spicy" such as "add or delete spicy" on other menus, but we stuck with "alter" because it was the first... and because it fit best with FrankerFaceZ's limitations on size.
The term "spicy" has become a bit of a meme online these days and is used to describe how amusing something is. Knowing this, we co-opted the phrase "alter the spicy" for situations where things are unintentionally humorous on the show, such as when we screw something up or when a game gets a little bit too hard. The spiciness has been altered.
