Video: Quick Start, Episode 8

This is one I've been wanting to make for months. I explain in the video why I didn't make it sooner (it's my own damn fault) but I kept worrying that I wouldn't ever get to make it at all. It's not the wildest machine in the quick start series by a long shot, but I would call it the best machine by a wide margin. Enjoy!

(accidentally labeled this as quick start 8 at first for some reason lol)

(oh my god it IS episode 8. how did I mess this up twice)

Or, to put it differently, what happened to this product is that venture capital decided to back shameless scams (and gambles) like cryptocurrency and Uber instead of backing meaningful R&D. (This is also known as the “zero-interest-rate phenomenon” [ZIRP] post-2008-recession.)

As someone who had a first-generation iPad in 2010… this is not any shittier than that. The only problem is that this came out in *2014*, and iPads were much, much less shitty by then. Honestly the whole Windows Phone saga (and the whole Palm WebOS saga) feels like a case of corporate pulling the plug (or running out of money) than engineering failure. What people forget about Apple is that after Steve Jobs returned in 1997 and axed half of Apple’s product lines, the ones that remained (and later followed) have mostly seen iterative improvements almost yearly, which is what you actually need in order to end up (eventually) with a product that doesn’t suck.

Really delightgul! Just a simple one, that actually works. In the abstract, in the concrete, of course, 3 pairs. I get it.
