FOREST OF PSALMS: holy f. in Korachan, known for its many ‘living psalms’ - trees with psalms from the Book of Rachanael carved into their bark. The f. is protected at all times by the mil. arm of the Church of the Machine, and there are harsh punishments for those caught harming the f. in any way.

LIVING PSALMS: the trees of the Forest of Psalms. The trees bark is carved with psalms from the Book of Rachanael.

BOOK OF RACHANAEL, the: rel. scriptures holy to the Church of Rachanael

OFFICE OF CAUSALITY: org. little-known of department within the Secular Republic of Parthis. Amongst its members are many augurs who look into alternate and possible futures and determine the root cause of such events. If the possible outcomes are beneficial to Parthis they may work to bring them about. The opposite is true for undesired events.

It is thought that past iterations of this org. were responsible for the rise of the republic, and its relative neutrality in the turbulent history of the Inner Sea and its silent rise to a position of power, with the Office of Causality constantly manipulating the course of fate to suit its purpose, whatever that may be.

WANE OF THE HOUSE OF FLIES, the: the wane of the house of Noso. Legend but the house that its based on (word linked with flies) is still around today, but decrepit and owning ancient lands with no resources. See Vol II: Legends and Folk Tales from around Elyden.

NOSO: patrician house. Subject of the old epic the Wane of the House of Flies. It still exists today in the S - E of the Korachani peninsula, though is greatly diminished and its lands are now bereft of resources and of little value, other than the mortal lives that dwell within. See Vol II: Patrician Houses

‘BELL CORVEN’, the: legend in Almagest and Skaros. The Bell Corven is a hooded al akhim covered in bells, sometimes seen on foggy nights on moors and abandoned terrain shepherding the lost. See Vol II: Legends and Folk Tales from around Elyden.

AETHER WINDS supranatural phenomenon affecting the Materia Omna and the acts of shapers. Similar towhe way climate affects localised weather, so too do the Aether winds affect shaping in specific areas, sometimes affecting particular spheres. Certain regions might make shaping or the use of technarcane engines more or less effective as a result, despite their location relative to the Nullambit

Malan is in such a region, finding itself above a powerful Fir. font, making acts of shaping that call upon the Fir. particularly strong, despite its relative vicinity to the Nullambit. See Vol IV: Supranatural Features.

IRON ANGEL, the: (b. 341 RM) Technarane and biomechanical construct, representing the pinnacle of artifice required to create sichtainen techna. Fully automated and imbued with tendrils of refined umbra, which grant it consciousness, the construct was created at the behest of the Archpotentate Malichar following his return to power in 339 RM. A champion of the Atramenta, chief lictor and carnifex of the Archpotentate, it answers only to Malichar. It was sent to the E by Malichar following the birth of the Avatar of the Fir. in 4007 RM.

The construct takes the form of a feminine angel, her skin that of dull iron, her wings expansive and blade-like. She  wields the Sword of Judgement and carries the shield known as Aegis.
