There are 6 levels of settlements - small circle: 1 - 4999 - large circle: 5000 - 9999 - circle with cross: 10000 - 19999 - twin circles: 20000 - 99999 - twin circles, the innermost one crossed: 100000 - 499999 - twin circles, the innermost one filled: 500000 +

The only thing I would take off is the resource icons; which I actually like, its just I have a mind of an earlier tech level. So I wouldn't use things like "cogs". I think the maps are just fine as is. Keep up the good work!
