Morning all! Today, we're in Norfolk.
This is the last bit of filming for the Doggerland video, or videos. Likely videos (plural) – as we already have almost three hours worth of footage assembled. The trick is finding a way to break it down into multiple eps that feel standalone, and remain part of a whole. Sanja's pushing me to just take the plunge and make a feature-length episode, if that's what it needs to be, but we'll see...
I’ve got to say thank you for your patience with this one. Launching Bubblegun feels like has taken off some of the pressure. You’ll still get plenty of us in a way that also lets us focus on making sure the main videos are as good as they can be. I always said I want Digi to feel like an event whenever a new video drops, but as I make them bigger and more complex… the gap between them is getting wider.

But... Bubblegun has hopefully bought us the space I need to make the videos as good as they can be – plus we’ve enjoyed doing them so far. The response has been great, and I'm excited for the next few as we start to mess around with the non-format more.
I'm really, really excited about this video. We knew going in that it's not quite as "sexy" a topic as World War 2, but I really wanted to do it. It has been interesting in that I set out to learn more about Doggerland, but… in the spirit of true adventure, it has become about something else entirely, which I think is far more interesting and universal. I couldn't have found that angle if we hadn't been able to take our time with it and let the story emerge, so thank you. The fact it’s also our funniest video in a while is just a bonus.
Today we'll be visiting young master Ashens. We're going to be doing something that I promise you won't be able to guess - but we could only do it with Stuart. And his better half.
It's accidental that this video has ended up as the one with our biggest number of guest appearances - not only from Mr and Mrs Ashens, but my son, the Scarborough boat crew, "Craig"... Doggerman, possibly even Leaf if we have time (he's in the car). It does help to break it up. None of them are arbitrary either; they're all in service of the story we're telling.
Anyhow. Will update - hopefully with some photos - after filming.
