MONDAY BLOG - PLUS DELETED SCENE!

Happy Monday!

Well… we did gardening.

Over the past couple of years where we had Other Stuff going on, we kind of neglected it. It has become a jungle, and needs a lot of work to get it back to where it was. But... we made a good start, cutting it back and repairing the fence. I mention this with a degree of pride, because Sanja and I don’t find this practical sort of stuff easy – just the mental effort to get around to it is immense. But we did! We promised we’d do 20 minutes, and did about an hour, and got loads done. I only cut myself once. 

When we get it finished, we need to apply a similar approach to fixing up the house; small bursts, to make the task seem less monumental.

LATEST VIDEO UPDATE

Our latest video has done reaaaaally badly. It has flatlined, essentially. We think we just put up too many long, heavy-ish, videos too close together.

Weirdly, we’re not deflated about it – it comes on the back of two videos that are continuing to do well, and it was an experiment to see if we could sustain a more frequent schedule, but clearly our audience don’t want that – at least not with the content we’re doing now. I’m going to edit the three parts into an omnibus at some point though, so we’ll get a second bit of the cherry.

Also… it was heavier than we’d have liked, in all honesty. The original concept was much more vlog-y – but because we changed our travel plans, and didn’t go to the original locations, I had to stitch it together in the edit with way more of the fact cutaways than I’d usually do. The first two versions, I was keeping more light moments in, but they didn’t work with the actual narrative of where it wanted to end up. We got a better video out of it, one I’m proud of, but it’s definitely atypical to what we’d normally do.

Anyway, we’re going to take a couple of weeks before the next one – but we shan’t neglect our Patrons!

You’ll get Corner Shop Corner this week, and we've a couple of other sofa-style chats, recorded right after we got our flat tire. We've been hesitating uploading them, because the lighting is FOUL - it's just pure vanity. But we'll get past it.

I’ve also got another short video almost ready to go – that one’s another experiment, in that it’s based around the cutaways we’ve been doing in our main videos; just voiceover and graphics. It’s about something I stumbled across while researching the next video, and it’s too weird and surreal to not mention, but it didn’t exactly fit anywhere else. I thought I’d see if short, five minute, vids would work in-between the bigger ones. 

OBVIOUS DREAM

In other news… I had the most on-the-nose dream last night. Me and Gannon were doing a Digi Live, and I’d decided not to have Beanus there, but the show was going badly… so I asked Gannon to hold the fort while I ran out to get my costume. Unfortunately, on the way back I literally shit myself, and by the time I got back loads of people had left. Afterwards, Gannon was doing a brilliant job working the crowd – because most of the audience still there had come to see him, and I was surplus to requirements. 

Yeah, not exactly subtle, subconscious…

At the minute, the Beanus Live idea is on hold. Harrow Arts are booked up, and we've struggled to find another suitable location, which ticks the same boxes. We've had some other thoughts about ways to get the community together, so watch this space.

Right. Need to catch up on day job stuff. We'll see some of you on Thursday for Biffo's Brain, and I'll update you on everything else later this week.
