HAPPY MONDAY UPDATE

Morrrrrrning.
For those of you following along at home – my mother’s now in her nursing home. Actually settling her in went easier than we expected, but there are still a lot of questions and things to be sorted over the coming weeks (not least how she’s going to pay for the place). We can’t exactly breathe a sigh of relief, but we can sort of let out a tentative breath through the corner of our mouths.
The last six weeks have been just… ugh. Bloody awful. Flu, my mum going into hospital, a persistent cough and cold, dealing with the hospital discharge team and social services, and my mum’s brain going weird, without any definitive idea of where she was going to end up. The hospital visits have meant I’ve not been able to get into any sort of flow with Digi or work.
Hands down six of the most stressful weeks of my life. Inevitably, I’ve not been sleeping well, we were babysitting at the weekend, and in the middle of it I got walloped with the Mother of all Migraines (ironic, given mum can sometimes be the Migraine of all Mothers). We’re all feeling exhausted, and aren’t out the other side enough yet to stop feeling anxious.
Incidentally, I do worry that I come across like a whinger in these posts, and feel like it looks as if I’m constantly complaining. It’s often just me venting and/or processing, but I like being open with you all about life. I’m generally a pretty optimistic person, but the last few years haven’t exactly been easy, so… y’know. It’s this or make stuff up. Everything is awesome!!!!
Hopefully things are starting to settle, and now we can crack on with finishing Digi Level 2, and other Digi stuff, once I’ve caught up on my day job. I’m very behind with all that, which has been another source of stress. Given everything, we’ve had to skip a week of BYAMPOD – don’t worry, I’ve not gone funny again, and we’ll be back next week – but we’ll aim to get a Digi Let’s Play done in the next few days. And that Writer’s Club Zoom is once again pencilled in for Thursday. Keep your fingers crossed.
In other news… I’m going to be a grandad for the second time this weekend. Migraine aside, we had a lovely weekend with Grandson #1. Despite my best efforts, I’ve yet to get him into Star Wars or Super-Heroes. He’s mainly just obsessed with tractors. He was only two in January, but can name different types of tractors and farm equipment, and even different parts of them (“That the tow bar… that where trailer goes”). However, he does like poo and fart jokes, so the apple hasn’t fallen that far from the tree.
The other thing that happened at the weekend is that I may have hit upon the idea for what I want to do after we get Digi Level 2/Drong’s Challenge finished (aside from the regular channel vids). Sanja likes the idea, and the thought of it gets me excited, so that’s a good sign. It might even be that I do it without crowd-funding. Certainly if I don’t have to raise funds, that’d be preferable to us.
Anyway. Give me a couple of days – I’ve a script I need to get finished – then we’ll have something for you.

2024-04-24 15:03:19 +0000 UTCYou can introduce him to Star Wars, just tell him it's got lots of tractor beams in it.

And no worries about sharing the goings on in your life with us! Here's to a good week, and hopefully see you and many others on Thursday (as always, no pressure).
