Every camera move, direction, and set design felt so detailed and true to the nature of the story and the COMEDY!! Cameos from legends I had no idea about!! This was seriously a treat to start off October with, I'm so excited for the next ones! Twilight, here we come!

2025-11-03 09:28:37 +0000 UTCOne of my favorite things about this movie: Whenever Seymour and Audrey II are singing or talking, they had to shoot at 1/2 speed because the Audrey II puppet couldn't move fast enough, which means that in all those scenes, Rick Moranis ALSO has to be acting, reacting, lip-syncing... at 1/2 speed. I'm SHOCKED at how incredible he did!

It’s incredible that they didn’t use an CGI at all, it’s all practical effects, puppetry, animatronics and camera tricks. They actually shot the Audrey II footage in 12 FPS and then sped it up to 24 FPS to make it more lifelike. So the actors had to sing/mime at half speed in the scenes with the plant. It’s just chefs kiss 🫶

I think you probably know Christopher Guest but from films like Waiting for Guffman and Best in Show. If you haven't seen them, they're fantastic. Also, check out the song they cut from the show, Now (It's Just the Gas). It's the confrontation between Seymour and Orin in the dentist's office. The musical is pretty dark, but I love this song. This one, one where Audrey does die, and one where the plants get sold and win, and it ends with a cute song "Don't Feed The Plants". Additional fun fact, cause my school was in texas...we used a real gun for the finale part. A literal hs student was on stage shooting blanks...yup <3 glad you liked it!
