SUMMER (WINTER) IN THE CITY
Added 2023-11-28 09:58:02 +0000 UTCMorrrrrrrning all. Our plan had been to record the new Digi today, but we've bumped that to tomorrow, as Sanja has another "craft project" to complete for it, and I've still got a little bit of research to do.
Also, we're still too sleep-deprived from our Marillion "adventure" on Sunday night (check out the latest BYAMPOD if you want to hear what occurred).
Consequently, I don't know if we'll be able to get the video to you this week, but if we don't I'll make sure you all get something. However, there WILL be a Writer's Club up later today for those of you in that tier.
Though this gap in vids is partly down to the Digi Level 2 filming we did in Derby recently, we're deliberately avoiding putting out videos every week. We're very much prioritising quality over quantity, and it seems to be working for us.
I don't know why, but weekly videos seem to do the channel more harm than good, so we're giving all of our little babies time to breathe. For whatever reason, all the alleged best practices of YouTube - weekly vids, shorter videos etc. - seem to work against us. We're playing the long game now of building up a catalogue of really strong episodes, and making sure each of them justifies its place.
That said, still got our live stream in December, and I suspect we might start 2024 with a Q&A. That might also be live, but we'll see.
Anyway. SO. We'll be filming in London, but it's totally unlike any other video we've ever shot there. Actually, probably unlike anything we've done before; we've got a proper shot-list and a camera script and everything. Plus a song. Hopefully. It will, of course, turn out as shambolic as you've come to expect. Provisionally, we're titling the video "City of the Dead"...
Brace yourselves for buboes.

I don't follow many channels on YouTube, but in my experience, that choice for video releases makes sense to me in a similar way to how it does with a channel like Ashens or Red Letter Media: extra value is added to the videos by the fact that my wife and I can't just turn the TV on at night and see what the latest releases are, so when they DO turn up in the subscription feed, it ensures we watch those as soon as we see them. Otherwise, they risk slipping into the abyss that is the YouTube subscription feed in the process of figuring out what to watch from what's in there at any given time. I could go on a tangent about how these streaming services have devalued everything from YouTube videos to films to the point where the customer is conditioned to always be moving on from one release to the next in the name of engagement...but I'll digress for now

2023-11-29 09:09:58 +0000 UTCSo let me get this straight : you have a small but passionate fan base, who prefer your longer videos, and you won't release them until they're as good as they can possibly be?... All you're missing is a world class percussionist playing maracas in the background, and you're basically the YouTube equivalent of Marillion!
