Hello gang.
Quick update on where we’re at and what’s coming up, as I’ve not spoken with you yet this week.
We were due to be filming on Wednesday, but we’ve postponed it because I had a full-on week so far with day job work, and I didn’t feel ready to film.
Part of the pressure is we’re away Thursday – seeing Marillion’s Steve Hogarth in concert, which will form the backbone of the next edition BYAMPOD. If you know where he’s playing you’ll probably know the significance of the location.
The review of that show will probably need to be recorded over the weekend, but we’ll do our best to get it to you before Monday. Hopefully it’ll be a bit cheerier than the last few!
But… we are doing another big trip for Digi next week, which we’re both researching it at the minute. I’m trying to pull the ‘narrative’ together. Won’t say where we’re going just yet, but it’s the furthest we’ve travelled for one of our videos.
We’re very much trying to put quality over quantity going forwards. We’ve been guilty in the past of feeling a need to get a video out every week, but we’re so proud of the direction we’re going in that it’s more important we give ourselves the time to get these videos together. Seems to be paying off too.
Not sure when we'll get this next one to you, as we're going to be away filming it for much of next week, but we will record a Patreon exclusive chat to tide you over.
In other news… and switch off now if you’re not interested in hearing about my ongoing musical attempts… I was planning to have released another album by now, and have failed utterly.
For some reason – whether it was just the sheer exhaustion we were suffering over the summer… or I’m just becoming less slap-dash – I just couldn’t get it together. I was getting frustrated, partly because nothing I recorded ever sounded as full and rich as I wanted it to. But… progress has been made. Finally.
The above demo may or may not end up getting released, as I put it together as a test of some of the new techniques I've learned. I’ve really focused on the mixing, and I’m very happy with how ‘big’ it sounds. Especially played loud.
I’m still not quite there with all of the virtual guitars, but they’re closer to what I want them to be than anything else I’ve done. I read a tip that to get them sounding more natural you not only have to double them, but also off-set them from one another by a few milliseconds. Seems to have helped a bit.
Anyhow. Right. Enough audio-nerd speak.
Don't suppose anybody got a drone they don’t want? Or does anybody know how to fix them?
