AN UPDATE ON ALL THE THINGS...

Hello you lot.

Sorry once again for the quiet week. The good news is, there’s light at the end of the tunnel with my schedule, and we should start getting back on track with Digi and BYAMPOD from next week.

It has been a bit of a perfect storm this spring – what with having to do Digi Level 2 filming, and being absolutely flat-out with work. Ever since we got back from the Marillion Weekend we feel we’ve had no time for anything. 

Not that I’m complaining on the work front, but it has been frustrating that I’ve gone from two years or so of stark employment famine, to suddenly having Too Much To Do AND IT ALL MUST BE DONE IMMEDIATELY. 

Also: in-person meetings. Ugh!

Then throw into that days like yesterday, where I was committed to doing Cheapshow, or today, where on paper I finally have a bit of time… but I need to look after my mum, and run her around. 

Again, not complaining, but I’ve been stretched thin. I’m also editing – or trying to – Digi Level 2, plotting the next bit of filming, and starting to plan the Digi Live Weekend.

Anyway. This is just to say, we’re aiming to record BYAMPOD over the coming weekend, along with a Writer’s Club ep. We may end up doing another Digi Live stream next week, but we will get you something that’s Patreon-only too.

ANXIOUS ANNIE

Weirdly, possibly because I have been stretched so thinly, I’ve also been dealing with a bit of anxiety. Until last year it was something I’d never really suffered before – and it frustrates me that it has started to hit me now. No slight intended to any other anxiety sufferers, but it doesn’t fit with my picture of who I am: “I’M NOT AN AXIOUS PERSON!”.

Well, guess I am for now.

It’s probably linked to the general awfulness of 2022 – and though I’ve had a pretty good couple of months, I’m clearly still grieving my dad to some degree. Consequently, things like meetings or going into London and being round lots of other people, seem to cause me real stress. I just think I’ve depleted my emotional reserves, and don’t have the emotional support structure under my skin that would usually be there to take the strain.

It’ll pass. These things do. I’ve bored myself senseless talking about all that, stuck record that I am.

CLEVER SEGUE

Talking of records…! In case you’re unaware, I released my new album a week ago. The big epic is linked above, and you can hear the full thing on Bandcamp. It’s up on all the streaming sites too, but I had some sound issues with the original upload, and I don’t know if they’ve replaced it everywhere yet.

This is the first one I’ve released where I finally feel like it’s a ‘proper’ album. It sounds great, it’s original, and well composed. I’m stupidly proud of it, and wish I knew how to publicise the gosh-darned thing. 

Alas, the music industry – even a relatively small pond like prog – is even more closed-off than YouTube. If anyone has any ideas, it’d be much appreciated.
