Weird one today! I mean, it's Digi... so they're all weird. But Gannon, myself, and Sanja all felt we were a bit rubbish, after a high-energy first day. On the way home, Sanja and I were bemoaning how shit we felt we were, and how great Gannon was, when he texted to apologise for not being on form. Which is nonsense of course, but it has been a slightly weird, goldfish bowl-y thing doing these couple of days, and it can feel quite exposing.
I had the notion of being the character Drong for one of the first segments, and it was a mistake. I was wrapped in a green screen shroud, so it was just my head visible.
The last time I did that - during our Screwball Scramble video, when I was playing Tony Harris - I felt very constricted and isolated from everything. Then instead of my usual Drong voice it kept slipping into something that sounded a bit inadvertently, well... dodgy.
And when I realised, that threw me off my stride for the rest of the day. It also doesn't help that I've not been well all week. No, it's not *that*, but I've got some weird sore/dry throat thing, and I've been relying on Vocalzone pastilles. painkillers and caffeine to get me through.
This is the curse of being a performer really - everyone I've ever collaborated with has days where they think they've been a bit rubbish, despite outward appearances - and it's why I'm generally more comfortable being behind the camera. There's way less pressure!
Still, despite our own doubts, there was plenty of gold in there today, and once it's all edited you won't even notice the performers having internal meltdowns. There was an Action Man/The Last of Us segment that I think was a winner, Gannon's Starfox is a revelation, and the guests and contestants were all typically brilliant. Gordon Freeman was also rather great. Oh, and the crew... they're the best.
One more day, and then the bulk of the show is in the can.
