LOST FOOTAGE DEVELOPMENT DIARY Pt 2: ANIMATION TEST & MORE
Added 2020-05-01 15:43:52 +0000 UTCAfternoon! Or morning. Or evening. Or whenever you're reading this. So, no idea if I'm howling into the void with any of this, but I'm going to keep you furnished with Lost Footage work-in-progress stuff as the pieces start to come together. Again, don't read on or watch any of this if you want to remain spoiler free.
Here are two very short work-in-progress videos. One is a title sequence for an animated version of a comic I drew waaaaay back in 1987 for my college magazine. There was a version of it on Bubblegun I believe. It's a typically tasteless idea, and I'm updating it for 2020 sensibilities, but this will likely end up in the next episode in some form as part of the Birth Sequence. It turned out pretty well already, so I'll keep plugging away.
The second video is a reworking of a 1950s sex education video for boys that I found on Archive.org. I don't know if I'm going to use this - it was earmarked for the Adolescence Sequence, but it turned out to have a bit of a sinister undertone (not in a good way) - so consider it a potential bona-fide exclusive here.

Me too. Perhaps it's too sinister even for Patrons!

2020-05-02 17:58:18 +0000 UTCThis is great. I've genuinely never looked for old video on archive.org before. Now I'm fascinated by pre 1970's sex education videos. The one thing I always wondered about was the graphic effects you apply to the footage - the chroma shifts and VHS-tracking effects - are they all just pre-built in whatever editing software you use?

2020-05-02 05:04:17 +0000 UTCThese are great! I'd love to see your storyboards/scripts? Especially for things that are already out there so we can compare how they started out to how they ended up. Maybe some director style commentaries? I love seeing the the whole writing to screen process!

2020-05-01 16:30:59 +0000 UTCNo, the animation is drawn on an iPad, then put into Final Cut. The hand-drawn lightning stuff is a plug-in for that. Saves a lot of time!

2020-05-01 16:18:51 +0000 UTCOooh I love animation tests! The hand-animated radiating sorta lightning effect looks rad. This all done in AfterEffects?
