DIGITISER DELUXE OPENING TITLES/PROMO PREVIEW VIDEO

It's weird, but as I start to edit the episodes that we're going to be calling Digitiser Deluxe... they're so slick and professional-looking that... I worry we might've lost a bit of what makes us uniquely Digitiser. Still, it's an experiment, and the trick now is losing none of that slickness, while also putting some of the visual chaos back into the episodes that I know you don't get anywhere else.

Regardless, it's going to be VERY interesting to see how people respond to these videos ("Urrrnh! I don't like it. Go back to the desk-based stuff. I miss the blue wall with the bad plastering etc. etc."). It's a limited run of eps that'll be mixed in with regular ones - for now anyway - but some of the tricks we've learned in the last couple of days will also be going into the regular episodes too. I mean... they do look unexpectedly lush.

Here's a promo for you!

Not only a typo, but a failure to hit the reply button. Good start to the day.

Sorry, I figured everyone reading ther comments would have watched it (er, apart fron me).

Spoilers!

Paul Rose (Mr Biffo)

To continue our twitter conversation, it was Eli going on about one night stands, wasn't it?

Important question: how much jazz funk sax and slap bass can I expect in this new series? Right now the funk levels are off the charts, according to this lovely video

Jeremy Abel

What you mean there is less Beans!

Christopher Smith

Got some very strong `man to man with Dean Learner` vibes with this and that cannot be a bad thing :)

Tyronne Mann

Excited for Digi-Luxe!

Steve Mannion

I'm very much looking forward to this!!! An excellent parody to whet the old appetite... Is that a saying? I think it is.

Stu The Brummie

If you have an ad break I will be both delighted and horrified if you don't do that twatty James Corden thing of saying "come on back" accompanied by that hand gesture that looks like a cat covering its latest turd with soil.

Treacle Truffle

Hah! It was and it wasn't. Actually, might be interesting to break it down. So... About £30 for the rights to the Saturday Night Live-esque theme, and another £25 for the voice-over. Then of course, there was the kit we've bought over the past year, which includes brand new coloured lighting (very cool; you can change their colour with the press of a button), and cameras (though obviously used for everything, not just this). We paid Paul and Eli for their time, plus Ash and Sooz's transport, plus hire of the studio. All the stock footage was Creative Commons, and free, though it uses a couple of Final Cut Pro plugins, which are in the £30 range. But obviously, I didn't get them just for this. In conclusion... not sure what the titles alone cost.

Paul Rose (Mr Biffo)

It looks expensive!

Good spot!

Paul Rose (Mr Biffo)

It is indeed a temporary thing. We used the studio, so we could fit everyone in. We filmed 7 eps, which we'll spread among regular eps.

Paul Rose (Mr Biffo)

Love the subtle background neons you picked for everyone!

Vicky Winstanley

I like it. I think it's gonna be fun. But, to be honest, based on these 36 seconds, i would say it feels more like a temporary thing, a few special episodes, before coming back to the usual "grimy" Digi. That being said, i insist on the fact that this opinion is only based on a short trailer and that i certainly don't want to be critical of your creativity if that's the way you want to push the show. Whatever your decision is, i will be here for the ride and i'm sure i will enjoy it. Also, glad to see Sooz Kempner. She's always a lot of fun. PS: Sorry if i use weird formulations in this text. English isn't my natural language and i'm not 100% sure about a few sentences i wrote.

Rodent of the Astrowaste

I love it!

James Moorehead

No, not every one.

Paul Rose (Mr Biffo)

I'm looking forward to it! Every "version" of Digi seems to be playing with styles and pushing boundaries. That shows you're always looking for something different, creatively. The roots will always be there though. Here's to you, Biffo and co!

John Lindsay

So Eli is on every episode then?

Lee McCormick

Very early SNL - I like it
