Here are his skill levels then (11.5) and what they are now (42.5) Inspect 41 -> 42 Hide Status 21 -> 25 Athletic Training 35 -> 45 Meditation 17 -> 18 Shape Glass 42 -> 43 Summon Glass 29 -> 29 Call Light 50 -> 51 Call Sound 40 -> 40 [Oddly enough, in ch 11 it says Call Light went up to lvl 54 so the 11.5 sheet and everything following that including this is incorrect.] Don’t these seem like very minute level changes, compared to the time passed and the things he has done with those skills in the meanwhile? Ch 11.5 was when Brin was still in Blackcliff and he hadn’t even fought Zilly or Davi yet. And hadn’t had that mini Hogg powerup arc. After that he took that long boat journey (ch 18 implies it was weeks long) , became a second, trained for atleast 2 weeks (ch 27), did the knight mega exercise, went out on patrol, got super injured by jelly core, was blind for atleast 5 days (ch 34), tried to escaped from Lothar, defended Dustrim, killed lots of goblins, a goblin chief and a witch’s familiar, had his illusions distract hundreds of goblins and call for aid from the knight order (ch 37-39), almost won the Crucible (ch 40-41) That all seems like rather long time and during that time he had no shortage of time he used his skills. Example inspect - He has been running constant invisible eye surveillance and managed to inspect through to see Lothats true class and has deduced peoples abilities so that inspect reveals them to him planely. Surely his inspect should have levelled more than once. Also the question rises if meditation being held off by him on purpose to only level it in the tower arc, cuz why shouldn’t have brin found at least some time to meditate during horse rides and the ship. For class skills, he has used all of his skills extensively. He has been summoning and controlling loads of glass in most of his fights, like the mirror men etc, surely at least summon glass should have levelled once. His illusionist skills have had almost no progress as well. With Brin constant invisible eyes monitoring around him I’d have expected otherwise. Brin also did some new pretty illusion tricks aka glass men, the whole distracting hundreds of goblins thing etc Also some specific mistakes: Shape glass levelled in both ch 24 and ch 42 so it can't have gained only one level. Call light levelled in ch 33 and in ch 42 so cant be lvl 51. It was also lvl 55 in ch 11 as aforementioned.

His new skill names are not there like Shape glass -> Shape glass (Morphic Weapons) and the laser aspect of Call Light

2025-03-27 17:44:44 +0000 UTCHey, had an idea at work listening to a podcast. Brin technically has a pretty good chance at figuring out gorilla glass. First, gorilla glass is made from standard glass components. Meaning it's composition is largely already available to him. The major difference is that aluminum oxide is only a trace element of most glasses. Bump up the proportion of aluminum oxide and then the only thing left is the ion exchange. Brin knows he needs to create internal pressure, but has largely relied on heating and cooling processes. If memories in glass is able to recall additional information as he connects the dots, he might be able to pull material from chemistry and biology. He knows that he needs to change the chemical properties of his glass, and from basic biology he should know that Na+ and K+ are largely associated. And that K+ is a larger ion. With a little leap he could use that as a bassis to develop a potassium salt bath with KNO3. Then it is only a matter of trial and error with temperature.
