Tuo Chiang Ship Brief

The ROCS Tuo Chiang-class is a modern class of stealth missile corvettes operated by the Republic of China Navy (Taiwan). Designed primarily for rapid strike, littoral combat, and asymmetric warfare strategies, these vessels emphasize high speed, stealth characteristics, and formidable firepower in a compact hull.

Tuo Chiang-class corvettes feature a distinctive wave-piercing catamaran design that provides excellent stability, agility, and reduced radar cross-section. With a length of approximately 60 meters and displacement around 685 tons fully loaded, the ships can reach speeds upwards of 40 knots. This design allows for operations close to shorelines, as well as swift deployment and withdrawal in contested maritime environments.

Armament includes a robust suite of anti-ship missiles, notably the indigenous Hsiung Feng II and Hsiung Feng III missiles capable of subsonic and supersonic engagements, respectively. Additionally, the class is equipped with a 76mm main gun, close-in weapon systems (CIWS) such as the Phalanx, and Sea Sword II air-defense missiles for short-range air defense.

The corvette’s sensor and electronic warfare package includes advanced radar, electronic countermeasures, and integrated combat systems optimized for rapid threat identification and response. The ROCS Tuo Chiang class represents Taiwan's strategic commitment to defensive naval tactics focused on deterring larger naval adversaries by leveraging stealth, speed, and precision-guided munitions.

Wonder if they'll upgrade to illuminate and guide the APKWS. That would give the Coast Guard version a significantly more deadly bite.
