A Notice To Pledge-Dodgers

I've struggled with doing this kind of post for a while, but it's getting to be a real anxiety point for me, so here goes.

I see you. You're not invisible. You come up as a former patron with a $0 lifetime pledge. While I've seen some other Patreon creators going out of their way to block you from their content, I'm not going to do that.

I understand that some people aren't willing to pay money into something that they aren't sure about. I get it. I've downloaded my fair share of software that I didn't have the money to pay for. But in this case, when you pledge dodge, you're not taking a drop out of Adobe's bucket, you're taking food out of my mouth. If I ban and block, I'll just make more work for myself, and you can always create new accounts and carry on as you have.

Most of my content becomes free eventually. This Patreon exists so that people who are fans of my work can help contribute to the continued production of that content. A single one dollar pledge would be enough.

If none of this sways you and you still want to continue pledge-dodging, I understand, but I will ask one last thing of you. If you like what I make, please talk about it! Message discords that you are a part of, tell friends on forums, whatever. This kind of thing will cost you nothing and will help me out immensely, so please consider it!

Alright. I'm done for now. Back to our regularly scheduled programming!

It would still charge at the first of the month except for that first time when they register. That would stop the dodgers.

My patreon charges on the 1st of the month, but when you sign up, you get access to all the content. I'm hesitant to switch to the charge up-front setting because once you do that, you can't switch back to anything else. I don't like limiting my options like that, and Patreon seems to be content not to do anything about the pledge-dodging thing.

How exactly do they do that? Don't your patrons get charged immediately upon signing up? If not, you should change your billing settings. Then if they want to cancel at least you have the initial payment.
