So this is a little bit of the work I was doing last week. What is it, you ask? This, dear friends, is a tile by tile region map for every different type of terrain on the world map, of which there are 34.
What this does in layman's terms is it makes the game aware of what kind of terrain you are standing on in the overworld. This allows me to make different code happen depending on where you are. This can manifest in lots of different ways, and I have a few good ideas, but right now, it will function alongside the overworld battles to set the appropriate backdrop for the fight (i.e. making sure that when you fight an enemy in the desert, you are shown to be in a desert).
Sorry if I got your hopes up with my previous post! I was out most of the day today and when 6PM rolled around, I tried to make the post with my phone, but for some reason, it wouldn't let me add body text, so all I could do was make a title.
