I have been debating for a long time whether or not to include a world map for this game. My main issue with it was that without random battles, what's the point?
I experimented around with different ideas of what to do and finally landed on the ability to explore. In short, there is a quest line that I am working on that will have you gathering quite a few ingredients in order to make equipment. The problem with that is that there are relatively few areas in the game that would feel like actually running around the field searching for a particular plant. The world map solves that nicely.
I have created 3 biomes as of now that can be accessed by walking over their respective tile and pressing enter. They are: forests, hills, and meadows. Upon doing this, the game will randomly select one of three maps for the area and transport the player into the center.
At the moment, it's just the one quest line that requires you to do this, but since there are quite a few reagents required, and it's easy to add more, I can think of some ways to apply it.
Just something to look forward to with the Norbermark Update!
