Added 2024-08-03 20:14:20 +0000 UTCHey hey friends! It's absolutely crazy how fast these 3 months have flown by, and the progress we've made is just mind blowing! We're actually taking off on a trip to Tahoe to visit Brady and Blue, then onward to Sweden where we will spend a few months with Mormor and fam! It's been such a whirlwind trying to wrap up some of the essentials that we needed to finish before leaving, but we feel great about how it all ended up, and she is looking sooo amazing!

2024-08-17 01:22:51 +0000 UTCPoor Sierra, daycare/ preschool interactions always lead to a lot of illnesses, but then the immune system gets really strong. My son seemed to have at least a runny nose for an entire year after we started him in preschool. He's 16 now and just about never catches anything. Safe travels, get well soon Sierra, and the boat is looking HUGE and awesome. Tha KS for the technical spotlights too. I'm totally interested in plumbing and wiring and think adding the conduit was a must have. Smart.

2024-08-07 21:56:27 +0000 UTCHey Jeff, actually there are CNC cut out holes in each of the fames. They're there to lighten the structure. Because they are CNC cut they all line up so it's actually really easy and convenient to run conduit like this. I just used the existing holes and really only had to make a few new ones which were easy enough with a hole saw. Either way it's a whole heck of a lot easier to run the conduit now rather than later after the interior is in!

2024-08-06 22:34:52 +0000 UTCHey Greg- yes we'll be in Annapolis this year! The placement was sort of a balancing act, quite literally. I think we'll need around 50KWH of batteries which will weight in at just over 400KG (~800 lbs) Due to cell balancing I wanted to keep them as close together as possible so that area kind of made sense, plus it's right under the mast and the center of weight so I think it will be a pretty good choice.

2024-08-06 22:22:04 +0000 UTCHey Matthew- The electric portion will be 2 X 25KW motors, or approx 2 x 38 HP. I've run some models based on the hull resistance data with the props and it looks like we should be able to quite easily cruise in the 6 knot range on electric power. For how long I'm not sure yet, I suspect probably 20-30 nm around that speed with 50KWH of batteries. But we'll see.....

Looking forward to the posts you said you might do on steering and etc. poor Sierra Kindy sucks for bugs in Winter. What sort of performance are you expecting out of 48 Volts? Hard to imagine pushing something so big. Camry Hybrid is 48 volts I think.

2024-08-05 21:20:45 +0000 UTCI wonder, did she have bronchitis? I had problems with that in my late teens. Ends up my body doesn't like dairy products. They cause "fluid" to build up in my lungs - then an infection comes along. Many people from NW Europe have an acquired tolerance. But probably a majority of human beings lose tolerance in the area of 4 to 5 years old. So if she had bronchitis keep a look out for a repeat occurrence. If so, stop giving her stuff containing dairy products then se what happens.

2024-08-04 03:21:35 +0000 UTCThose common bus bars remind me of the setup on the 787-8 I worked on. They ran from the re-gens on the jet motors down the length of the plane. Entirely eliminated hydraulics and made the plane much lighter! Yes, Sierra is growing by leaps and bounds!

The only known cough suppressant is Dextromethorphan .. normally called DM. Mucinex has a good one. Children's Hold .... used to be great. Codeine will only numb you ... and you don't care and can sleep. This stuff actually works! That conduit looks like to took a long time ...... but will pay off. Like when you put in the heating system, for example. Or is there some way to do the same thing with an aluminum boat?
