I'm just going to assume the Specimen became aware of it's surroundings and acted accordingly. As for Bobby Lee's fate, I speculating he's either birthed a large fleshy mass leaving him a husky or, as mentioned in the exchange from 1973, it's contorted his body into that monstrosity. Either way, the Specimen is making his revival a grotesque affair
