Matt Damon and Ben Affleck were struggling actors at the time so they decided to write a script where they could play roles that would show their acting talent. Nobody really knew who they were before this movie. The plan worked and they became very famous immediately after it came out and their careers took off. They even won Oscars for Best Screenplay.

Yeah, I had just turned 13 when we went into downtown Boston to watch the filming.. I remember my Father wanted to see if we could catch a view of Robert Williams.. lol.. never did though..

Ha, ha... my hometown.. I remember back in '97 when they were filming the monologue scene with Robert Williams and Damon in the Boston public gardens they had all the surrounding streets shutdown and yellow tape up blocking it off.. some lady with a microphone walking around yelling instructions to all us people standing around watching.. lol.. It's weird seeing where you grew up and some of the places you visit or hangout at in a movie.. couple of suggestions on some other well done movies you guys might like that take place in Boston as well.. i don't think we saw that one either! since we love Robin Williams acting, we would definitely watch that one too!

I am just about to watch now,but based on your intro,there might be a chance that you have not seen "Mrs. Doubtfire (1993)" with Robin Williams, If that is the case,then it's an absolute must watch
