Still Alive

It's been some time since my last post and I really don't have a lot to share right now, but I can at least say why I don't have much to share.

In my day job, I am an IT specialist working on a federal website. I think you can just take a look at any news headlines from the last week and have a pretty good idea of what I've been going through. I'm not going to give specifics, but I will say that things are shameful.

I'm going on disability retirement by the end of next week. this is something I've had planned for a year, but until then I'm stuck in this situation and it's taking almost everything I have.

After retirement I do plan to throw myself more into game development as much as I can, taking into account that my disability has certainly reduced my output. I appreciate you sticking around here in the Patreon to support those development efforts. I understand if you want to duck out because of your own financial situation or honestly any reason whatsoever, no pressure.

I'm going to have more about laugh track in the weeks and months ahead including playable builds for $5 backers. So, hang in there. I'm still alive. We're still alive. We're going to get there eventually.

No, I'm actually in a very good position financially. I've never really been a big spender so I've largely been socking money away for the last 26 years. The only major expenses for me are surgeries (and hopefully I won't need more of those) and game development. I'm not a wealthy man but I'm not poor either. I should be fine for the rest of my life provided that the economy doesn't crash and by extremely basic investments don't tank. Fact that I'm worried either of those things are going to pass is not a good sign for any of us though.

I'm a primary investigator on a federal grant, so it's been a rollercoaster of a week over here. I have some small idea of what you're going through, and I'm glad to hear you'll be free of it soon (though sorry for everyone else stuck in the chaos). In any case, I look forward to continuing to support your work in whatever form you continue to do it. I've been spreading the word about it (and people I've spread the word to are spreading it further), so it is having an impact and bringing a bit of happiness to people in challenging times. No pressure to do more than you can, but know that what you're doing is appreciated. :-)
